Could Someone Recomend More!!!!!

Yea i know but I think suzu was talking about jossie and the pussycats in relation to gackt due to the music.. I could be wrong though. After all i'm sooooooooooo lost

As someone who has been trained in singing, I can say quite confidently that Gackt has astounding mastery of his voice, and the quality of his voice is nothing short of magnificent. It's incredibly smooth and rich, and the 'varrying pitch' mentioned by Akaisha (if my understanding of what you're saying is correct; apologies if I'm mistaken ^^') is called vibrato, and to be able to do it well is a sign of skill.

I've never exactly understood why some people hate Gackt so much. He was operatically trained for years (so much for "he can't sing"), plays like seven instruments (and skillfully too, from what I've seen and heard), adept in martial arts, writes his own songs (SO incredibly hard...oh god it was pure murder when I had to do it) and lyrics, and on top of everything he's got a sense of humor that beats most. His style of music dares to take a big step outside of what's normal, and considering the size of his fanbase, and in my own personal opinion, he has done it well. He belongs to so many genres of music that I've given up on trying to categorize him. He's just...Gackt. Almost every song is very different and unique from all others, something I can't say for the vast majority of music I've heard.

As for his lyrics, I find them to be really quite good and moving (nasty, nasty Engrish aside). There are so many little implications in his lyrics that only make themselves known in Japanese, and Vanilla, while the Engrish gave me an urge to stab myself in the eye with a dull spoon, does in fact make sense and is really coy taking implications into consideration.

Okay, now onto the main topic.

I highly recommend Story, on the basis of the instrumental.
Seki-Ray (I loved the Sixth Day version of it) showcases exceptional technique.
Oasis -- Sixth Day version rocked my world
Dears
Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto -- For a pop sound
Last Song (Sixth Day) -- Beautiful melody and the PV makes me sad ;_;
Mizerable (Sixth Day) -- Intense; you can hear raw emotion in his voice
Rain -- Very dramatic
And of course, Vanilla. Oooooooooooo the PV............................................*dies*

Can you tell I enjoyed Sixth Day very much? 🎈

LoveableTenshi, you were correct yes in what I ment, thank you for telling me the word. But I understand its a sign of skill, when you use it correctly and appropriately. When you use it every time you hold it out, as was the case in memories(though i think it was done decently.. somewhat) and Last song, and probably countless more that refuse to come to mind currently, but as I was saying, when you hold it every time isn't a sign of skill its a sign of bragging and at the saem time decreasing your skill by showing you don't know when its appropriate to do, showing not so astounding mastery in his voice.
I think Gackt had 'decent' controll over his voice, and he's a decent singer but I think he lacks allot of what comes naturally to be a good vocalist. But not just that but the music, which I can't entirely blame on him, isn't that good. And his lyrics, which from my understanding, and from what you said, are his, aren't that good either. To be honest I find them vague, redundant, and nonsensicle(considering if that's a word).
Talent is not exactly what people desire in an idol. He can be trained all he wants, if he doesn't have what it takes then he's no singer in my eyes. And I personally just don't like his voice or anything about him really. Who cares if he plays seven instruments? Allot of people can. I don't see them getting famous, and I bet they play them better then he does. Who cares if he's good in martial arts? So's my grand master, and he's not famous either. His style of music doesn't dare, he has no style, he's to versitile to have a style which makes me think he is either many faced or just fake. I like to have a reason to like a band or a solo artist, with Gackt, I just can't. He has a big fanbase, yes, and I do not deny that, but tell me this how many of them are fangirls? Fanboys? How many are true fans? How many sit down and break the music down and study it, how many people learn its meaning? And out of those people, how many started as a true fan, not a fangirl/fanboy? Tell me that, then measure how large this fanbase is.
But you asked why people hate him? Perhaps its not just his music, the guy is a media ***** after all. Maybe we hate him for that. Don't get me wrong the fact he works himself to death for the sake of fame and without fans he wouldn't have that fame, because of that I admire him. I think he's an idiot but I respect his perseverance, and I respect his self controll. But why do we hate him?.. well maybe its perfection. But then again couldn't madness attract a crowd as much as perfection itself? Maybe its the confusion of this that we hate. Gackt is only one man and as being human we know our capabilities and his far exceed what I've thought of and seen in history, and because of that this man is unreal, and as being unreal I prefer what I can understand. Setting aside of course what I had commented on his voice and whatnot, THAT is why people like me do not like people like Gackt.

As for the Sixth Day, I hated it personally.

Let it be known that while akaisha has some great points, the opinions expressed are not necessarily the opinions of all people non-infatuated with gackt.

Well I think that's just common sense. I can't say I completely agree with all I say either, but Winter if your opinion differs from mine(and from what I've seen you're not exactly a fan either) then why not post your opinon? Simplely stating that thats not exactly your opinion is better fit for a television station about to air an infomercial, esspecialy in how you worded it. If you have an opinion on this topic why not just post it? People are curious after all. Its like you wouldn't say you had a favorite food and then give no information on it would you? I mean no offense or anything.

I have before. Said what I thought. Been flamed for it before. Not in the mood to be flamed tonight.

I just dont want people thinking I dont like gackt for the same reasons you said. You said some good thoughts, but I personally dont agree with any of them.

Just wanted to clear that up.

Thats understandable. I mean I still agree with most of what I say, but I'm not saying everyone does. Everyone has their own reasons for not liking Gackt and one of mine does happen to be issues with the music and with his singing but as I said, putting that aside I gave my other reasons for not liking the guy.
As for flames, I say if people flame, then flame back.

I dont like doing that. I mean, all it does is just start some big fight, and who really wants that?

Besides, people usually call me out and say I start things right off the bat, but I really dont. I just dont sugar-coat what I say when I display my opinions, and people get offended. Bleh.

Akaisha, you're right about how many fangirls/boys there are in...well, pretty much the fanbases of a vast majority of celebrities. I personally fell in love with the guy before I ever saw a pic, and found Oasis only because a friend sent it to me. Even in lives, I find that he is on-key more than most singers I've heard, even Hyde (*sulks*). Oh but the Engrish..........................

This could very well be because I'm a ******, but I think his dedication to his fans is very admirable. I like his desire for perfection in virtually everything he does, but I can definitely see how that can land on the bad side of people.

As for media *****, it could be because I'm blind, but I haven't really sensed that very much. Every star grapples for attention, but at least he doesn't take every opportunity on every show he's on to make himself the center of everything (he rarely says a WORD on his show with the Domoto brothers). I just tend to think of him as _really, REALLY strange_ and that there is a high demand for him from the people, and thus, his face is on.........well, half the billboards in Tokyo (not much in Kyoto though, which surprised me [*happy happy, just got back from Japan last week*]).

Thank you Akaisha. Everything you've said are valid points, and I'm so glad people like you actually have reasons to hate/dislike, unlike so many who just hate because they think it's cool or that it gives them power (I have a MAJOR problem with that. *shudder*).

LovableTenshi, I'm actually currently writing rant on the majority of Dir en Grey's fanbase being fangirls/fanboys, so I understand that no matter what you do, as long as your famous and people have a reason to like you, you're gonna get the rabid fan-peoples. My knowlege of Gackt started the opposite way, I saw a picture on someone's signature on a different forum and someone had brought up the question if that was a guy, or if it was a girl. After that I learned about Gackt, and my entire interest in j-music(outside anime) had started.. odd how thigns work. But anyway I can't say he's on key or off key considering I know squat about singing, I just judge from an average listener's pov. Though if I were to compair Gackt's voice to Hyde's voice, I'd also have to agree Gackt seems more in tune then Hyde does a majority of the time. And as for the engrish.. I feel your pain.
As for the dedication to the fans, as I said as well, it is something to admire but only to an extent.
(I hope your trip went nicely) And perhaps it is the high demand for this man that has made the media ***** image I, and plenty others, seem to see. But I still feel he went after the attention before it was needed, and exceeds what is needed. The man be very dedicated to his fans, but as being a perfectionist he wants just that, perfection. And unless every idle mind at least has some sort of place for him... but perhaps I'm being to bitter? Either way I can see many possibilities for why this is.
Oh dear me, I can't say that hating a man for the sake of being 'cool' is a good thing, let alone have I seen it. But I think anyone that dislikes him has a reason, perhaps they cannot channel it into a direct thought but it surely exists. And its always nice when someone expresses their opinion for liking Gackt without just saying 'he's cool' or 'he's got a nice voice' or when they result to insults because someone insults him. You handled things very well, so I must say I'm glad that people like you also have a reason.

As for that I must say its true that flames vs flames only causes a huge fight. I've just always learned if someone punches you, you punch back harder, it causes quite a scene but at least you feel better... that can't be a healthy thought patturn. But anyway, its good that you don't sugar-coat things, I think you do a good job of saying what you have to say. However, as you can tell, I'm more up for debating the offense someone had taken. Perhpaps I'm just to agressive in that regard, but its me. Its good though that you seem to keep your cool.

I'm just as aggressive as the next person, but I mix it in with a blind arrogance, and an unhealthy dose of elitism.

Its no secret that I think I'm better than most people. A fualt of over-confidence, yes, but it doesnt bother me.

With that said, I feel its beneath me to lower myself to the level of the pleabs that wish to coax me to it with innane, uncreative words, or in some cases, physical attacks.

I'm far too important than to soil myself with the dirt of the commoner.

Well I would say "Aren't we feeling high and mighty?" but considering you've basically already said that I can't say I have to much to say. I think allot of people place themselves in higher regards to others even if it is unintentional. With what you are saying I think it is intentional and you take pride in this fact. That alone bugs me, though I'm not one to govern another's life or pass major judgement, I can assure you its no way to get about in life.. though in this world it certainly seems to be.
With that said I have to say either way I admire the fact you wouldn't lower yourself to the level of who is "beneath" you, even in my times of feeling power I can't say I refuse to lower myself, I will lower and raise myself as is needed, but all in all I can't say I conciously think of who is lower and who is higher, after all that arrogance itself is lowering and degrading to one's image. So I must say if you conciously think, or even if you don't, find yourself a better being then those around you on an average basis you are the lowest of the low, and I don't mean any offense to that, its my views on just about every human because every human does it. But I do admire those who say it. But I have a feeling I'm seeing this the wrong way, I feel your meaning by what you said is not really how I'm taking it, and all in all I'm wrong(in a way). If this is such, if you would please explain.

Let me explain something to you, and I'd PM it, but I think this is a good opportunity for the regulars here whom know how I can be, to understand why I am like this.

I do think I'm better than most people. I think I'm incredibly important to if no one else, myself, and because of this, I am content with how my life is. I wasnt always like this, and actually had to learn it.

10 years ago, I was in my first band without the guidance of my family, whom are all minstrals. We all work playing music, and we do it rather well. Anyway, this band I started, was my attempt at making my own way, without my family helping me.

So I got some friends together, got a good agent, and booked some fun gigs. Then we got to recording our music, and pitching it to would-be labels.

I actually used to be very cheery, chipper, and empathetic towards others. But that only made me and my band an easy target for mutilation.

We spent 2 years going through incredibly bad times with A&R dickheads, 'producers', and managers that were only concerned in raping us for what we could give them.

After a while of that, you do one of two things; give up and succumb, or form tough skin, and fight.

I went through a lot of changes. Eventually, I came to one conclusion. I am far too important to be raped by the victimizers of the industry. So because of this mindset, I developed a holier than thou attitude, and really pushed my way into where I am now.

I learned that if you are going to succeed, you have to be more than just strong willed. You have to be tenacious. You have to be carnivorous. You have to be brutally ambitious, and psychotically intense. You have to be willingly able to destroy, and or, be destroyed. And my way of balancing out all these neurosis of success, was to develope a sick sense of elitism mixed with an unhealthy dose of apathy *in order to cope with the failures that come my way, and the people that react negatively to my elistist personality*.

Now, I'm managing my own recording label, working in 3 bands, working as a board of directors for a promotional group building a festival for next year, and I'm tackling the stock market, thereby building fundings to secure my retirement in the future.

I owe all the success I have, in my experiences, and my ways in that I developed into the shrewd, unforgiving businessperson that I am.

Now you go ahead and assure me that thinking the way I do, is no way to live life. But if I didnt live it this way, I would have been dead at 16, literally, and metaphorically.

And no offense outright, but this goes out anyone who wants to succeed in any form of business. If you dont adopt a similar mindset, dont ever expect to be worth anything other than a commoner. And even if you do achieve some form of success, without developing the said characteristics, expect your business to be swallowed up by a fellow businessowner who thinks the way I do.

I've pmed my reply. But so anyone interested wants to know a basic idea of what I said, I said good gone bad, and that I disagree with almost everything Winter has stated.
