*Harsh opinion alert*
Of all the songs, you listened to Vanilla and liked it?
Really...most of his songs arent great, mainly because he ruins them with his lack of vocal skill, but of all the songs he's a part of, Vanilla is the hardest to listen to for me.
The beat is awful, the melody is unecessarily erradic and the song as a whole is just terrible. Bleh.
If you want a good Gackt song, listen to Story. Its probably the best one tarnished with his dreadful name.
I guess its no coincidence that its his best, because he has no part in it. *shrugs*

Well In a way I agree with Winter. Vanilla was actually the 2nd song I ever heard but I never really liked it. The lyrics themselves are rediculous, but to be honest thats how I feel about most of the lyrics he writes. And will someone PLEASE tell me what on earth "a crew sees crying knees" is supposed to mean, I mean honestly! But as for his voice, I admit when I first heard it I sat there for a momment staring rather blankly at the screen. More or less I think the fact his vocal range is fairly limited(minus a few songs) and the fact its low and just that kinda voice, that we aren't used to it and the fact its different is what attracts us to it. So do I think the man can sing? Yeah. Do I think he can sing well? Not really.
As for the song Story, I can't say I like it, in fact its rather on the bottom of my list. But more on Vanilla. I can't agree that the beat is awful, its irregular and a bit "flashier" perhaps then is really called for(rather reminds me of a Los Vegas show when I think about it)
But as for Winter's insult in saying:
The fact you say that a song may be tarnished by his name is more of a personal hate, and I thought you just hated his voice? If that were the case, would the song not be tarnished by his voice? Just curious.
But anyway my suggestions are:
Last Song
Fragrance
Another World
My personal thought is his voice sounds almost fake in Last Song, not because of the varrying pitch while he sings, I mean allot of artists do that but the fact of the matter is he did it EVERY time he held out a note, rather unnecicary I'd say. My issue with that is in hating his voice you'd rather target that and therefore Story is tarnished by his voice overall, however I think I may get where you are comming from. Did you mean that because of his bad voice you've officially labeled Gackt as "bad singer" and therefore anything with his name is officially tarnished? So you'd be saying that Story is a decent song despite the fact he wrote it? Sorry if that makes no sense. But I'm curious on where you're comming from on this POV.

I must say I'm not a huge fan of Hyde's voice either but I think with the more baritone of Gackt's voice bleeding in as its base it doesn't sound half bad but the differance in the voices(in their pitches mostly) I think creates a rather bad feel for the song, and to much space. I say the only reason I like that song is for its lyrics, made even sadder when you can recall the events of Moon Child while listening to it.

That is a good question, Winter. I mean when I said Story was at the bottom of my list it was in reference to the normal version.
Mizerable isn't that good in my opinion, I didn't like the lyrics(didn't work well with the song), the music was 'original' to say the least, and his voice all in all was.. well.. decent. But i think the transition from when he's singing the first part to when it gets a little louder and a little more emotional(from hitomi ni utsuru zawameki wa nannimo kikoenakute tada ima wa "amai toki no itazura da" to sora ni tsubuyaita - mawaru, mawaru okizari ni sareta jikan no naka de watashi wa ima les miserables ) I thought it happened all to fast, same goes for the music the jerkiness of it is just not needed and actually does the song more harm.

I agree it is a bit popish, but to many of his songs are that. I like the 'ending of a movie' type of feel I get from the song, I like its high speed and the 'rush' though its at a themed rush. As fo rit being ripped of josie and the pussycats can't say I can agree or dissagree considering I've never heard a josie and the pussycats song.
