Hi everybody, i want to apply to MEXT scholarship for next year, but have no idea about writing research proposal. Application process will start in april 2011, so i have about 4 months to prepare. My speciality is IT(programming). I hope somebody will give me good advice, thanks.

I want to research the internet use among the elderly.

I think it's good to have work experience, they might ask you a letter of recomendation from your boss.

Think very deeply about your research project, it's the most important thing, it's the reason why you can't do your research in your country and have to research no matter what, in japan.

Read papers, researches, all academic material related to your field. You main gain curisity in an specific area and find out what has been made already in your country and in japan.

ykk, thanks alot. I hope you will go to Japan this time! Wish you all the best.

About research proposal, i already have one finished work, which i wrote as graduation work in my university, it is about protection data stored in optical device. What you think about this?

I have no idea what is "protection data stored in optical device" but it's great if you have already some background experience in research.
Think about what you can add to that proposal, what should be studied in order to get it greater and more important.
And VERY IMPORTANT think about the resources that Japan has that make your research unique to be studied there. It may be because the technology in Japan, because a certaint professor, be creative and search a lot online about the facilities of japanese unviersities, what they are researching, what is new and what matches your research project interests.

If you come up with a new project (different from what you have already studied) the process is very much alike, first think think think. That is the hardest part of all. When you already know "this is what I want!" the process of finding a university and professors will be easier.

Above all, what I think it's the most important, think about some research that is good to your country and, at the end, for the humanity. I know it's difficult but, look around you. What you have? What you need? What would be really good?
