confused about translation of a phrase

the phrase is from a song called winter love and is the following:

冬の妖精たちが輝き 舞い降りてくる

the english translations of this phrase that i see are "As shining winter fairies come floating down"

so i tried to break down the phrase to see if i could understand it. i know that fuyu no yousei tachi means "winter fairies". kagayaki which i looked up is a noun that means "radiance" and maioriru which i also looked up means "to swoop down upon" so that maioritekuru means "to come swoop down".

what i am confused about is how the word kagayaki or "radiance" fits in with this. translating the phrase in my own words it reads "the winter fairies (radiance) come floating down". the part that is giving me trouble is the kagayaki part. ga is a subject particle which marks the "winter fairies" as the subject but the noun kagayaki seems to be missing a particle because it doesn't make sense to have a noun and then a verb right after.

should it be kagayaki o maioritekuru? the translation would be then "the radiance of the winter fairies comes swooping down". however it doesn't seem to match the translation. am i thinking of this incorrectly? any help will be much appreciated.

" 輝き " is not a noun in this case but a conjugated form of the verb, " 輝く ".

It seems winter fairies are metaphors of snow to me. So "swoop down" won't be fit in this context, because snow fall down slowly.

ah that's what i suspected. there's still many grammar points i have yet to encounter. is there a name for this kind of conjugation so i may look it up in a japanese textbook?

Yes. It's called 連用形（れんようけい）.

Incidentally, the noun 輝き was originally derived from the noun usage of the -masu stem of the verb 輝く.
e.g.
遊ぶ(to play) --> 遊び(a play/game)
好む(to like/prefer) --> 好み(a liking/preference/taste)
