Ive recently been thinking of attending a full 4 years of college in Japan with 1-2 years of learning the language first at a language institution. But of course, money seems to be a big issue.
Ive been searching for scholarship offers for a Japanese language school/college...but I see that first, theres not much scholarship available. And second, most of them requires you to already be enrolled in college either in your home town or in Japan already. OR, they want you to still be in high school. Ive already graduated high school this summer and Im taking a year off. Ive never taken any class at any college even if its just for a short period, summer, etc so I cant consider myself a "college student" in any way. Basically Im not in any school right now. (Also important to know that what I want to do is not study abroad/do an exchange program, but go to a 4 year university in Japan from the beginning to end)
My question is are there any scholarship available for high school graduates who are not enrolled in any school at the moment? Also, do you think what Im trying to do is kind of reckless and I should attend college here in the US first and then transfer..? Sad to say, its true that I dont really have a SOLE PURPOSE that I HAVE to go to Japan... I just want to go there already. Im half Japanese, speak fluently at home (but I cant read/write well so I have to go to language institute first?) and I visit my second and favorite home in Tokyo almost every summer.
I have grandparents and a home..if that makes any bit of a difference when calculating financial fees (like dorm).
