I had this in a test the other day. I don't know if my translation is ok or not. They gave us the hint [ *platform - 発言の場 ]

The blogging phenomenon not only affects politics and media, but also provides a platform to the isolated, the unacknowledged and the professional, who express opinions which otherwise could not be heard.
