Capsule hotels?

Hi everyone!

I'm going to Japan with my friend for the whole July and we'd like to try a capsule hotel for a few nights.

We'll visit Nagoya, Kyoto , Nara, Hiroshima and Tokyo.
Actually, "in Tokyo" we will propably stay in Chiba with some friends of mine. But it's not confirmed yet.

I have tried to find some sites of capsule hotels, but most of them are for men only... And we are both girls.

So, if anyone here knows any nice capsule hotels for females too, then please let me know!
They can be in Tokyo or Kyoto too, but rather in Nagoya or Hiroshima.

We've found some cheap places to stay in Tokyo and Kyoto, but we need help with finding some cheap places to stay in Hiroshima and Nagoya. Others that capsule hotels are ok too!

There are cheap youth hostels in big cities. The restrictions, like the fact that you can't be there in the middle of the day, can be kind of annoying, but if you want to save money, it's the way to go.

Thank you for that, very interresting... but still expensive I think.. Mayuko and I had a 3 star hotel in the centre of Kyoto last year for only 4500 yen a night.. that had more space than this ones

I love Capsule Hotels for some reason! I'd pay extra to sleep in a all-in-one capsule! ﾂ（ﾂ湘篠） Last year I stayed in one of those in Osaka.. Some guy woke me at 3am or whatever 'cos he was puking so loud in the bathroom somewhere on the floor!! ﾂ（ﾂ湘篠） Hilarious..

I have to ask the same question... I'd always imagined that a capsule hotel would probably be something I would try to avoid... & then my impression took a turn further south with the puke anectdote.

If your on your own they are fairly cheap, otherwise I'd start considering a love hotel for a novelty place to sleep, or do some web browsing and pickup a bargain. I stayed 2 nights for 3500yen (2 adults, 1750 each) by finding and booking a room over the internet, over 50% off

Positive..? I thought it was damn funny! I could have gone to an other hotel, pay double the price and get a good night sleep too, but I thought this was a more interesting experience. I could have thought by myself: "damn, I'm trying to get some sleep here!", but I chose to laugh about it. One shouldn't take life so seriously.

Ok, just checking. I stayed in a capsule hotel in Asakusa for 2000 yen after sleeping on the cold wood floor of somebody's tiny apartment for 9 days. The capsule hotel was a welcome and restful sleep. In addition, there was a large Furo on the top of the building.

I don't know if I have anything to add to the conversation here, but I've stayed at numerous capsle hotels around the country. I've never once had a bad experience. They might be a little difficult if you don't speak Japanese, but that's part of the adventure, I suppose.

To answer the original OP, I personally don't know of any capsle hotels in Hiroshima that allow for women, but I know of one in Nagoya. It's called "Capsle Wellby Sakae" near Sakae Station. It's 4,100 yen per night, and it's a 5 minute walk from Sakae Station exit number 8. They take most major credit cards. I can post a map if you like.

I've never stayed at a capsle hotel with locker space bigger than you'd find at a locker room at a high school. Not big enough for luggage by any means!

That definitely wouldn't work for me. My suitcase would take up half the capsule if there were no lockers large enough to accomodate it. I guess I'll just stick with the business hotels or Ryokans.

You're all so helpfull!

We have found some places to stay for about 2000-2500yen/a night/person in Kyoto and Tokyo but Nagoya and Hiroshima have been tricky ones!
Of course it can't be that cheap everywhere...

And we really want to try the capsule hotels too. I'm happy to hear that most of the people here have positive experiences about them.

And love hotels sound interesting too! I have heard about them, but not really checked any prices. It would be fun to try one too!
I'll go to check some prices then...

I checked those sites now and some of them look good! Too bad some of them are only in Japanese, so I don't understand anything...

We have both studied Japanese for 2 years now, but we can mostly talk in Japanese, we hardly know any kanjis. Some basic but... Not enough to read those sites
