Can you look at my question about 見える and 見られる?

I have a question about these verbs and the associated particles.

"Can you see the clock from there? What time is it?"
"Is the clock visible from there? What time is it?"

In English they mean about the same, just the difference of "clock" being a subject or an object.
Is it the same in Japanese? Do these mean about the same?

そこから時計を見られるか。何時だか。
そこから時計は見えるか。何時だか。

Also in general, can you use the particle に with verbs of 見. If so, does it have the flovor of "look at" vs "see"?

I would use 見える for both.

Dpending on the context, but "to seem" is also possible for に.

Both 見える and 見られる are intransitive, so no direct object (を) can be used.

Yamasa taught 見える and 見られる like this.

- 見る means "see" (a conscious decision on your part)
- 見える means "able to see" (without doing anything to make it possible; you can't control seeing it)
- 見られる means "able to see" (with the nuance that you did something to make it so)

聞く・聞こえる・聞ける works similarly.

窓から、友達の家が見える。
ここから、時計が見えない。
美術館でいろいろな絵が見られる。
東京行き新幹線に乗ったけど、曇りだったから、富士山 が見られなかった。

As for the particles, we were told to use から for the offset location.

- に見える means "to seem" ～ 田中さんから来たように見える手紙だ。
- に見られる means to be visible on; to be found in ～ 彼が書いた論文は、この本に見られる。
- に見る means the location of seeing something ～ 死んだ同僚を夢に見た。

見られる can take を. Plus, が is considered to indicate the object with potential verbs like 見える, 見られる.
