Hi there.
Someone has wrote this to me and i was wondering if i could get a translation? Its in romaji, and i have no idea what it translates to only a few words. I tried online translators but they keep saying its not japanese romaji.

doushite kimi wo suki ni natte shimattandarou?

I would appreciate this greatly.

どうして君を好きになったんだろう?

Why have I fallen in love with you?

Sorry if it was your lover who told you this?:)

No don't be sorry. Its a good thing, just complicated. I thank you for the translation. Do you think you could recomend any decent sites that can translate from romaji to english? i don't like to hassel people for translations. Even though i'm sure an online one won't translate as good as a human.

I've tried online translation and it sucks and I really doubt there are any decent site. I guess the grammar is so different between the two languages and the tech hasn't caught up with it yet. Sorry to say I'm not familiar with any that you can use romaji with. It might be better to learn some basic Japanese or post it on a forum as you have. I'm sure there's lots of people who would be happy to oblige.

Do you often come in contact with Japanese phrases you need to understand?

Sorry for not being much help:(

You can also try Lang-8 if you haven't already. It's a site where you can have native speakers correct the language you are learning (in this case Japanese) in return for you correcting their English. I'm sure people there who are able would translate it for you.

Sorry that is not the way the person who said that is intending it to sound. You are making it like it is a bad thing and the person has regret.
I think a better interpretation is that the person is happy to have fallen in love with the person in question, but can't believe that they are in the situation (in love with the person at hand) and is asking a rhetorical question.

I think a more accurate translation is "I can't believe I have fallen in love with you". The literal translation is not wrong per say, but I think the sentence needs to be taken in context here.

Oh and it is "どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう。"

It is a difficult thing to translate, and no web sites are going to be any good, unfortunately.

「どうして君を好きになってしまったんだろう」(doush ite kimi wo suki ni natte shimattandarou) was a hit song on the Japanese pop chart by the uber-popular Korean singing group 東方神起.
