Also, you cannot just give an address to a web page and ask "Can anyone do this?" and call that a thread starter. If you are asking for translations, at least include what it is for, why you need the help, and what is in it for us. No, the last one is a joke.

Ha ha, sorry. Well my friend mike has been sending me Japanese worksheets that he makes. I'm not studying through a school or program, just independently, with my friends. This worksheet I've been having trouble with and I'd like someone to complete it so that i could look over it.

Also, wa changes to ha when writing, right?

To be honest, some of this stuff is hard even for me! I can't do some of 2-5!

As for the wa-ha part, it is pronounced wa, but written as the hiragana ha.

Honestly exercises 2-5 arent very good practice. Translating from English to Japanese when you dont know the grammar forms and vocabulary to make the sentence, is pretty rough. Its like working backwords because you might end up thinking the sentence you make is correct, when really it sounds unnatural, then you have to relearn it.
But, give it a try, like ashikaga said, and tell us what you are having trouble with.

HaHa. No, thats not it. Not that im lazy at least XD.

Just, my friend, Mike, is helping me learn japanese. So he'll be like: "yo do this sheet, lets see how far you've gotten"

seriously, nobody will do it for you, but a lot of people will check your work and point out mistakes and good/weak points


LSandra, look around the forum, you will find a lot of things about books. my suggestion is Genki.

Genki I, like Alma said, best book you can use.

Zanti, please post the sentences you have done. Don't make up random stuff and say this is the best you can do, put some thought into it and try. People who posted in this topic have helped me out tremendously and I do not waste their time (I hope) with half-endeavors and I would certainly not expect--or hope--they did the same.

At the very least, you can do the bottom part. I agree with you, the top part is difficult, the bottom part is Japanese -> English and much easier. Give that a try, post the answers with your other sentences.

Anything the Japan Times puts out is quite good, I agree. But ALL textbooks are only going to differ around the edges compared to the like 99.9999%+ of real Japanese they leave out. If you're motivated, you'll pick it up from any decent and standard materials. They key to real learning of course is to expose yourself as much as possible to native, adult-level language simultaneously while using the text as sort of a touchstone or reference. Oh...and resigning yourself to not understanding a sentence in the paper or on the radio for 2-3 years.

That last part is especially true, I'm just playing a video game and it's radically different. I expected it to be different! I can't get too much native language though, no natives here to talk to / annoy.

Trying the hiragana 'comprehension' part was interesting -- turns out I didn't forget as much as I though that I did from a class about fifteen years ago ... ;-)

Just don't depend too heavily on Google Translate:
せんせいのなまえはあおやぎせんせいです。 ---> Oh doctor your goat is that the doctor bangs.
(Sensei no namae wa Aoyagi sensei desu. ---> The teacher's name is Aoyagi Sensei

It doesnt seem very natural to me at all.
