Hello, my main interest is camping. I have read that there are a lot of campsites in Japan used mainly by students. Are there campsites that would suit the more mature traveller (middle-aged)? And the best place to visit for scenery, culture and history. You will see from my homepage the kind of holiday I like. Many thanks in advance.

What kind of "scenery" did you have in mind?
For culture and history, many people will tell you what guidebooks do -- Kyoto , Nara, Osaka, Kyushu ...

Camping in Japan
Thanks for replies. The kind of scenery I like is mountains, lakes, natural structures. I don't know how possible it would be for me to camp in Japan by bringing my own camping gear (perhaps a lot of hassle) but perhaps there are campsites with ready-erected tents? I will do a more thorough search tonight.
