For more than 20 years most young people have understood that it is important to use condoms for casual sex. The problem is not merely to avoid a baby but also STD and AIDS. In Japan the condom use is very widespread and even if a forign guy is in favor of the ancient "withdrawl method" it is most likely that the Japanese sex partner will insist on using condom - actually this would also be your experience in Europe. It seem that it is only in the US (and a few African countries) where the Bush Government sponsors religious fundamentalists to make campaigns against sex outside marriage, where you can find young people wich seriously agues against against condom use.
