C-blockers...The scourge of the earth!!

Only Once !

In 2 years, I only had 1 Japanese guy really bug me about my J-girl. He pushed so hard and made such a show that when I kicked the sh*t out of him, the people around cheered. He was a low ball chimpero(SIC) and very drunk; later his boss came to the bar where I worked to talk about it. The guy appoligized and that was the end of it. Later the boss became an occasional friend and would take me clubing with him. He seemed to like the idea I took the time to learn his language.

If you're getting blocked by Japanese guys at bars, you're hanging out at the wrong bars. Period. Same holds true in.... every other part of the world. Please where people really don't care what you look like do exist...even in Japan. If you're really having that much of a problem getting laid, go to a Roppongi gaijin s@*thole.

Making Japanese seem like the only population of horny men react to foreign predators is just plain silly. Attitudes like this is what gives us good white people bad repulations.
Predators? what?

Because a guy wants to get some love or companionship he is a predator?

Because a guy goes to a bar to pick up, where are their girls at the bar who *gasp*, are you ready for this? This is a DOOZY! Hold on. It may just ROCK YOUR WORLD. Where the girls WANT to be picked up, he is a predator? The girls aren't some innocent little creatures being mercylessly preyed upon by 'predators'. Give me strength.

And in fact I was just about to comment that apparantly the worst country for silly jealousy and paranoia regarding foreign guys/native girls is Korea. It actually turned into this whole Korean Net Geek Blogging crapfest about 2 months back. Kind of funny.

Thing is though GP, this phenomena isn't just confined to certain bars. Like OP said it can happen on trains. It can be the dirty stares a girl gets from Japanese guys while with you. It can be a so-called friend telling you you're girlfriend is ugly, while at the same time text messaging her with a lie that you are talking to other girls and that he and her should meet some time.

Is it "one of the central themes in my stay in Japan"? No, not a chance. But it is a real and noticeable phenomenon for young guys staying for an extended time in Japan. Yes, yes it is.

But maybe its just a curtural thing there. It seems it does happen a bit from J-guy to J-guy. And even amongst girlfriends, it would seem. My GF of quite a few months back there was apparantly taunted quite heavily by her friends because she had a foreign BF. She decided not to listen to them because they had a series of foreign and Japanese one night stands. But it was a similar thing.

Predators? what?

I don't think you are, but these guys you refer to certainly do.

Nor certain countries. I'm sure there are more than a few people here that have picked up in Japan... you're not going to get any sympathy from them.

But it is a real and noticeable phenomenon for young guys staying for an extended time in Japan.

You're going to the wrong places then. I've never noticed this anymore than anywhere else.

Have any of you guys stopped to think that the girls are putting the guys up to do their dirty work for them?

Strange, it seemed that the girls would strike up a conversation with me first. No J-guys around, or if they were around, bothered me.

Since I am in Pachipro's age group, I can only imagine someone in their 20s or 30s having to put up with such interference. But what worked for me in my, ah, younger days, I would project a "don't mess with me" persona that kept any troublemakers away. It is all a matter of attitude in my view.

I just want to say...

I am a white male who has been living in Japan for over 2 years. I'm currently seeing a Japanese girl, and have seen others in the past. Not once in all my time have I observed this phenomenon. Some of my best friends here are Japanese guys, too.

He pushed so hard and made such a show that when I kicked the sh*t out of him, the people around cheered.

Damm Frank! I always figured you were a lover, not fighter! LOL, I hope you left a few scars....

Japanese guys are too afraid to approach me for some reason let alone even make eye contact (women too for that matter). Must be the shaved head, goat, and all the tatts. I must be the poster child for anti-pretty boys I swear... 8-p

Tall works. 6'3"... 7 years... never had this problem unless perhaps I was being a drunken fool in which case the girls did plenty of avoiding me on their own. That happened more amongst friends really than anything.

That's the best way to be, as far as I'm concerned... :p ;-)

Same experience for me Armand. It was almost always the girls who came up to me or us back in the late 70's/early 80's. I got so used to it that I came to never make the first move. Only used eye contact. Not once, nada, never, did I have a problem in these places with Japanese men. Must be a new phenomena.

I had the same experience with "chinpiras" one day while out with my soon-to-be wife and, like you, the boss took care of it immediately. The story is here. I'll have to get one of the moderators or admins to move it to the story section.

Doesn't anybody get this in any othe rplaces besides Japan. Happens to me alot here.
I was out with a Japanese girl here not even a date. But we walked into a IHOP and as soon as we make it plain view she gets stared down by several black females. Then they continue to turn around occaisonally for what reason I don't know. No matter where you go people are going to have issues with mixed couples/groups. Bah to them I say.
Jealousy is a ************ you weak jealous mother****ers!
😌

Does this so called c-blocking work the other way ie: males getting picked up by gaijin females, and what would you call it? :? Even more strange would they c-block you if you were hitting on another Japanese man? ☝

When the guys a complete stranger?

Stranger things have happened. In that case though, I would say it's just good olf fashioned competition.

EDIT: Pooka -- you give me negative rep b/c I interpret the way you're viewed in this situation (re: "predators")? About as mature as this post in the first place. At least you had the nads to sign it.

It must be.

We must be lucky to be blessed with natural charm that J-women can't resist and J-guys can't fight. ;-)

Either that or we're so old that both take pity on us. ;-)

my japanese male friends help me meet girls
sometimes its outright nampa and sometimes its like good-looking girl attached draws others
maybe its because i don't really want no more trouble that its so easy for me to find it

Haven't tried it in Japan, but my experience in Canada / U.S. / Germany is that, if you're having problems getting girls, it's all you.

I think most people can sense when a mixed couple are completely comfortable or serious with each other and will leave them alone versus a girl that for whatever reason looks open to being 'hit on,' by 'predators' hanging out at certain bars. For what it is worth from my limited experience with one Japanese guy never having experienced anything like this either.

Here is one message I dragged over from another thread. I think it validates at least partially what the OP is saying.

I am an Australian but I am of East Asian decent. I used to have the idea that I should only date Chinese because of our cultural similarities back in high school.

However when I went to University that ideology has changed. I have begun to evolve and like to try new things. I am not as traditional as I was in high school.

I am now married to a Western European man and I have received disapproving looks or comments from other Asians when I am with him or the other European descendent men I dated.

The worst experience was in Taiwan, where my mother came from. Some people there treated us like zoo animals, my husband was so mad and I was embarrassed because I am half Taiwanese. Now I am not sure whether I should bring him back to Malaysia for vacation, because a lot of the people there are quite busy body and conservative. No offence but it's like this.

But Australia is ok; yes we will stick with Australia. This is not to say no Australian has a problem with this, I am sure there are people who do, but it is not as obvious. Otherwise Europe and Thailand are some of the places where people don't misbehave when they see interracial couple.

There is this rumour that it's more scowled upon by Asians for an Asian man to go outside of his race, than for an Asian woman. However it is beginning to change I think. I see more Asian man dating European descendent woman than in the past, although European descendent men dating Asian women are still more common. One of my dad's friends' son married a white American girl, he is Australian born Sino-Malaysian, as his parents are Chinese from Malaysia.

I have also been labelled as "whitewashed" by some Asians because I am married to an European Man that has been assumed as refusal to give Asian guys the time of day. Even just as latent friends.

As with any interracial couple, the Asian women/European men pair has its portion of stereotypes. I have heard and read about these assorted stereotypes from the Europeans' side and the Asians' side. It is pathetic I suppose, but it can likewise be neat to resist damaging stereotypes. For instance, a European decent man with an Asian woman is frequently stereotyped as having a "little instrument" that he can't intimately gratify a white woman. Or that he is solely into the Asian woman for her compliance and sexed charm. Also the Asian woman can get stereotyped as being regarded too unappealing for Asian men, thus having to be with a European descendent man. Or, another absurd (though sometime accurate, I guess) belief made is that the Asian woman experiences outclassed and detests being Asian, and is with the European descendent man to advance her self-respect and to experience as white as possible.

Now I don't really fit into any of those stereotypes of Asian women I read about. When I went to Taiwan with my husband to take professional photographs the people at the studio have tried to make efforts to make me changed my mind, and wouldn't stop asking me why I didn't choose Taiwanese men? I been to the studio 5 times with my husband, each time I was mobbed with questions of why I chose to marry a foreigner?

While back in Australia, after my parents told their friends of my marriage to an European man I received comments such as "Those white men stole our pretty ladies!"

I don't think my husband fits the classification of those stereotypes neither; he has been targeted by white women but also women of other descendents as well. But it is true that Asian women like him, and they are often after him.

Even the time I took him to Taiwan, the prettier ones were smiling at him, and they were not ordinary smiles, they were trying to hook him, the women did that in Thailand too, and he has also been targeted by Japanese woman.

But I get my share of attention so, I am not really threatened.

Maybe Japanese high school guys are too shy or the area I lived in was very polite but I never experienced this problem the whole time I was in Japan. In fact the only resistance I had was from other foreigners who liked the same girl.

I agree wholeheartedly. You know how I sometimes ***** about my lack of companionship? It's all my own fault, and I know it. It's not for lack of chances, and no, Japanese men have NEVER tried to sabotage my efforts.

I have the opposite experience. Japanese men have been nothing but supportive to me. They have hooked me up with Japanese women and even told me once that I should try to take a woman away from her Japanese boyfriend!

Is that co**blocking? I think not!

Wait a second...is that really the whole truth, and nothing but the truth???

Well, I'm speaking of a span of like 10 years here....
