Sorry, I am terrible at giving a discription of things and didn't want the movie to sound all cheezy with my word choices. That's why I posted the link.

I would be one of those people who would say, "Hmm, average height and pretty ordinary looking." when asked to discribe a criminal.
 
I Havn't seen it yet, but I would like to see it, and also my parents * two moms* really want to see it.

I am a big fan of heath ledger, so i really wonder how good he plays in this one

John Wayne & Clint Eastward were the 2 cowboys, I might go see it. I guess I'll wait for the "G" rated version to come out on DVD?

I saw it. Thought it was pretty good - a very bold and groundbreaking subject for a Hollywood movie. The messages in the movie were a little unclear though (if there were intended to be messages).

It's not really something I'm interested in seeing. I'm not much on romance movies with a woman and a man...why would I want to see two men in a romantic movie?

Love It!!! Love It!!! Love It!!!

I LOVE BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN!!! My mom and I went to see it a few weeks ago, it is brilliant! Mind-blowing! Earth shattering! I have been waiting for YEARS for somebody to make a main-stream movie like this. The story is just heartbreaking and so universal not just to gays/lesbians/bisexuals but everyone. This movie is truly gut-renching, seriously, I think about three weeks worth of bottled water had flowed from my eyes by the end of it. Besides Memoirs of a Geisha I think this is the best film to come out in the past two years or so.

P.S. This movie is not a "romance film" it is FAR from it. This film is about life and ALL the emotions therein not just romance. This is as much a romance as Closer. It's about every emotion in a disfunctional relationship/forbidden relationship not just the happy romantic fluff, there's really no romantic fluff in Brokeback actually.
 
i saw it and it really didnt affect me so much. maybe because is more of a hetero movie. i dunno, i've seen better.
 
I'm not a big movie buff so wasn't really thinking about it one way or the other until there was this story at CNN.com with the following quote which I thought was both very true and beautifully expressed. If it is any indication of what the dialogue and screenplay are like, I have definately gotten interested.

I walked away from the movie a little confused as to what the message was. It seems like there wasn't really intended to be much of a message or moral to the story, but what I took away from it was that being gay kind of ruined these two people's lives. I'm sure that's not the message the filmmakers were intending, but that's how it seemed to me.
 
I haven't seen the movie yet, but I heard some interesting comments on this movie.

I heard that there were some people who seriously thought this movie was a conspiracy of gay community against cowboys, which I thought was ridiculous.
My friend told me that he and his partner were the only male audience in the theater which made me wonder how that would be if the movie was about two gay females.
 
I thought it was a great movie. It almost made me tear up at the end.

As for the message, I think it was made to show the horrible effects of homophobic attitudes. That's what I took from it anyway.

I think it works as just a self-contained story too though. Lots of emotion, with even more under the surface. GREAT movie.

Heath Ledger's voice kind of bugged me through the whole thing. He sounded like he was doing a Slingblade impression.
 
Well, tomorrow night, we'll find out if Brokeback Mountain wins the Oscar for Best Picture. It's gotten tons of publicity while the term "brokeback" has already become part of the lexicon of slang. Hell, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the word winds up in the next version of Webster's Dictionary. Will the movie win? I tend to think it will, especially after the third installment of LOTR won last year, something I didn't think would happen. We shall see!
 
yeah I have seen that one too, there is also one about a cat, i saw that on my work, i just burst out and laught for 5minutes.. I made such a fool out of myself hahaha

Meanwhile, despite all the hype, Brokeback Mountain lost out to Crash for Best Picture, the only major award BM won was Best Director and two minors for adapated screenplay and musical score. Guess I shoulda known that the Academy wouldn't gives it's most prestigious award to a flick with a gay theme.
 
I don't buy into that crap Jeff...that is what all of the entertainment reporters were saying too...The movie just wasn't the best out there...that is why it didn't win.

Perhaps, I read in my local paper that the total gross of all five movies nominated for Best Picture was almost 20 million less than what King Kong earned by itself. Still, we'd be naive to think that homophobia didn't at least play a small part in the voting process.
