bringing a destkop CPU on the plane

Hi I'm new here.

So It's almost time for spring holiday, and I'll be going back to my home country (Malaysia) for a few weeks.Since I don't have a computer in my home country, I'm planning to bring my CPU back home so I can do my school project and stuff. So heres my question for anyone who have either experience or knowledge in this matter.

Since I'm planing to pack the CPU into my luggage so :
- Do I have to declare the CPU to the customs and probably pay taxes for it?

-or-

what about if i bring computer parts like HDD and 3D card in my luggage(instead of the cpu), do i need to declare those too?

Quite frankly I have no idea about the customs and whatnot to declare, or declare to which customs(Japan or Malaysia). And yes, I do plan to bring the CPU back to Japan when I'm coming back here.

Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When ever my girlfriend brought hers to and from Japan she didnt have to mention it, but thats from the UK and it was laptop.

You don't have to declare it, but if you have receipts, it would be useful if there is a problem.

No, really there's nothing you have to do about it... (I've done it)... I would have simply brought the hd's and such but to each their own.

Haha, bringing the CPU with you, that's a new one. Very creative. Not a problem, just very bulky.

I'm sorry, but I assume you don't have a computer back home in Malaysia, but I would think you have accessibility to internet cafes, why not buy an external hard drive or a usb, you might as well save the hassle of having the CPU with you and breaking.

I have done this first hand experience. Twice!!!

I would seriously recommend taking the Hard Drives out along with your memory. Stuff the Case along with all the others parts in the bag that's going into cargo. Put the Hard Drives and Memory in your carry-ons. Don't let the people at the check points touch handle them to harsh, let them know what they are and tell them to be careful.

I mean to say, although I don't think it was clear, that this is exactly what I did... I even left the case at home, and just put my drives in the machine that was already in Japan waiting...

I think it's far too bulky to bring a whole case, I think at tops I would bring a) hds, b) memory, and c) vid card...

My school work = programming. I don't want to spends 10+ hours everyday inside a Internet cafe. They cost money too. Plus I'm guessing theres none that have visual studio installed.

i brought one back for a friend i carried on carryon and they didnt even scan it they really just dont care and dont declare it that raises more issues that if its wrong and your caught
