BJT: has anyone taken it?

If anyone here has taken the BJT (Business Japanese Test) I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. I don't have any specific questions, I'm just curious about what it's like compared to the JLPT maybe, how hard it was, whether you found the study process useful and practical or if it was just a pain in the *** to study for?

I have taken it a few times over the last few years, my last score was 660 but I am not happy with that. Very difficult test if you ask me. Here is a list of people who have JLPT level 1 and 2 who took the BJT. As you can see, even a level 2 person does not fair very well with this test.

Deffinately is a practical test for people living in the real world, I found you can pass the JLPT and not really know that much Japanese, but this test really focus on reading comprehension and the ability to understand Japanese(hearing and commuication) There are a lot of words that are only used in the business environment, so if you are not involved with Japanese business this could prove a difficult part to study (not impossible though)

Yeah I noticed that graph on their website, it seems that ultimately the JLPT isn't as hard as the BJT.
I'm wrestling with the idea of whether that alone is a challenge worth striving for, another notch on the belt, or if my energy would be spent better elsewhere. Although only used in business, pretty much every business in Japan is considered 'business', even at small retail shops they probably use most of the same language, keigo, vocab, etc., although it def. becomes more complex the bigger the busines of course. But I think what you said about it being more practical is true in that sense, I think it would help even at a day to day level, and certainly would come in handy if I ever managed to get a real job out here.

I think I may go for this one. I anticipate a positive result from this past Decembers JLPT but even Ｉｆ I didn't get it， studying for the BJT could only help if I had to take hte JLPT again in the summer.

Are you going to take the BJT again and increase yer score?

I deffinately recomend taking this test, it really is a good test of your Japanese skills. The speed and the lenght of individual questions may be something you not be used to, but will make other test seem easy.

I am going to keep studying and taking the test until I can get a score of over 750. My ultimate goal is to get as close to 800 as I can as I would not mind doing a bit of translation work.
