Best Man for UK Wedding - Japanese Parents Attending - HELP! 助けて

Konnichiwa beautiful people - I need some guidance.

TL;DR version - a great friend of mine who moved to Japan is getting married there and will be returning for a UK ceremony of which I am best men.

His Japanese fiancée's friends and family will be attending.

Whilst I will be conducting my own research into Japanese culture, if you have pointers on how to show respect and anything major I should do / avoid you win the fake internet points.

The ceremony will be a renewal of vows but will have speeches including a best man speech.

Just plan the wedding as though the bride's parents are regular folks....just like you....and not easily shattered glass figurines. Whatever you do, they'll deal with it.

They will be just as concerned about what they should do properly. Mike's advice is as good as any. If anything, you can instruct them on how to tell an usher where to seat them. Maybe explain the reception line, too, and that all they have to do is wait in it and shake hands. Otherwise, they will tough it out and not make a peep.

Also what is the equivalent of "cheers" when toasting?

The Japanese word for toasting cheers is "kampai". Unmistakeable.
