If you are interested in SONY, I have recently read a brilliant book on Akio Morita, the co-founder of SONY (chairman of the board and CEO in 1976). It is an autobiography which covers the growth of the company as well as the general historical period of that time.

The book is called: Made in Japan - Akio Morita and Sony,

It's meant to be an allusion to the time span covered in the book, i.e. from the eras when samurai were around to present, the era when SONY is around.

Oh, I thought maybe it was a colloquial thing that didn't translate well for non-native English speakers. I didn't realize you were joking in your earlier post. :sorry:
 
I think the best book on this subject is still "Japan: Its History and Culture". I plan to buy it soon. I just bought "A History of Japan: 1615 to 1867" by Sansom. Great read. Planning to buy Embracing Defeat soon.
