I heard several times, and read in various articles over the years, that "Turning Japanese" isn't about Japan, but masturbation. Just thought I point that out.

I love the song, and I've read about it being about masturbation.. but there has never been any official reply that it is indeed about masturbation.. and if you listen to the song it seems obvious to me that "turning Japanese" is just about becoming unused to your usual surroundings.. just being in love and being changed in so many ways that people around you can't recognise you... but maybe that's just me...
