They are still among my all-time favourite films. I think it's a shame that they market it as a 'horror' or 'full of blood-shed'. the films are beautiful. After watching Beat Takeshi's re-make of Zatoichi, I would love to see him re-make these films (although i can't see him in them). i don't think there are many directors who could do the originals justice, or stop themselves from using loads of FX or wild stunts...there is a beauty in those films that could very easily be lost.
