I just finished watching "Audition" and it was bloody terrifying. I think it was one of the most shocking movies I've ever seen. It's like one long nightmare. The Ring or Juon are bedtime stories in comparison. Has anyone seen it? 😲

I thought this was a great film. Truely shocking in content and all done within realism. Mind you I do like Takashi Miike films. This has been one of the few films that has made me wince.

i don't know if i found it terrifying but it is certainly a disturbing film...but then again, most miike takashi films are!!!

you gotta love piano wire!

Yes, it's true. I almost had to stop watching towards the end. Ugh, piano wire. *shivers*

it's just nasty.

Miike wanted to schock and he did.. the story in it is almost non existant.

mmmm i like the movie, especialy then ending 😌 my fav part is when she put the nails in his body, and then slide over it.... ( kidie kidie kidie kidie kidie)

yeah miike movies are pretty hard.... Ichi the killer was pretty disqeusting to sometimes.... i think this guy inside have a too big mounth.... ( i told my girl about him, and she just keep saying to me : mmm KAKOII guy... he look soo good. .... Yeah in commercials)

Miike rocks... how ever sometimes.. its just a bit too much

that part had me laughing furiously.. I just couldn't take it seriously.. it went over the top when she started doing that... The people behind me in the theatre were not happy.

The acting is good and the story is fairly normal for the first hour or so. The female lead doesn't really let on that she is a psychotic B***h from hell until near the end. Then it is out with the needles and piano wire. She would make you wish you were married to Glenn Close out of leathal Attraction. Why boil a bunny when you can cut straight to the chase. You'll probably like it. :-)

:danger: :kaioken: :danger:

Yeah, that movie is messed up. One of my friends from japanese class and I rented it, and I didn't even bother to look at the box at the video store, so I had absolutely no idea what was coming!!

Yeah, it got me too. I ignored the early clues of the "thing" in the bag that was squirming around on the floor when she was on the phone, because I didn't want to belive it was true. And then the investigation scenes when the guy finds out about tongues missing and whatnot... 😌

XD
I'm sure I will... if only I manage to get it from somewhere... (Ebay) I like the thought of needles... this girl reminds me of myself... 😲 No.. hehehehe *nervous laughter* I'm nothing like her... heheheh... ☝

Isn't it about a man looking for a wife, trying to find the "perfect one" or something, holding auditions to find her... ? (Might be completely wrong)

The question should really be who hasn't seen it.
One of Miike's best next to Dead or Alive.

Mandatory viewing if you like Japanese Horror films.
One of the few that actually delivers.

One word: Priceless

The ones who will get the most out of it are those that dont know anything about it before they watch it.

Terrible movie, i own it myself and the first 90% of the movie was just dull, nothing said nothing done. The the last 10% just complete madness which i really enjoyed. Disturbing, shocking and makes me wonder if i really want to meet japanese girls. If only all the movie was as disturbing.

For me, it is a film I only have seen once, and NOT planning to see again...maybe next year or so when I feel like frightening my friends who haven't seen it. 😌

👍 Haha me too... I dont think Im crazy, but I did enjoy the film... that part made me laugh, even talking about it with a japanese friend (who is perhaps a little crazy) made me giggle.... very twisted, very weird! Loved it! What other movies has this person made????

Kara Nari:

Other Movies that I know of directed by Takashi Miike:

Dead or Alive 1.2,3
Shinjuku Triad Society
Full Metal Yakuza
Bird People in China
Deadly Outlaw Rekka
Gozu
Fudoh : The New Generations
Audition
IZo(dont waste your time-total bloodbath)
The Happiness of the Katakuris
City of Lost Souls
Visitor Q(an acquired taste-pardon the pun)
Graveyard of Honour(remake)
Ichi The Killer
The Guys from Paradise
Andromedia
Family
A Human Murder Weapon
Silver

Thats some of em. Takashi Miike is a pretty prolific director.
Dont expect too many of the aforementioned to be like Audition as this has been called one of his more subtle works(if you think Audition could be described as subtle).
Expect trangressive romps through some pretty seedy parts of town and some twisted bloody scenes in lots of the movies mentioned in the list.
Do some research before you go out and purchase/rent one of his movies.
He is def an acquired taste.

Hope you enjoy some of his films.

I nearly gave up watching it it started so slowly. Now I can't think of it without cringing, but I found Ring more scary. The bit where the mother is combing her hair really freaked me because her hair is the same as mine. I couldn't brush my hair alone for a week!

Has anyone seen Hellevator? Now that is a disturbed film.

I've seen this movie, because well strangely enough my mother told me it was disturbing, so I told her to get it for me because I like horror movies. But when the girl did the "kidie, kidie" part I started laughing. It was really weird at first, but I liked the movie, almost made me not want to watch it again. But I did, and now I finally undertstand how disturbed the character was.

ive seen it too and thought it was Ok. my sister still freaks over kidie kidie but i dont think it was as scary as Juon. (japanese version NOT american) or ringu 0
