I have been thinking about this for years, and now its the time for me to launch it!
Welcome to the first audition round for the J.A.P. project !
J.A.P. stands for "Jpop Amateur Project".
The goals of this project is to gather the best known and unknown amateur jpop singers of the internet and have their songs and recordings featured on special compilation CDs for everyone's enjoyment. This project is for fun, non profit and non commercial, but will represent good visibility for the artists featured on the CDs.
The audition rules are pretty simples; here's a copy-paste of the rules from the official website :
1. Auditions for whom ?
For all people who can properly sing and record high quality jpop songs.
2. What songs can I use for the auditions ?
All songs originaly in japanese language i.e. jpop, jrock, anime, enka, musical...
Traduction in other languages are not permitted. Short versions, such as "TV Size" versions, remixes and original compositions are admitted.
3. How many songs can I submit ?
Artists can submit a maximum of 3 songs per audition rounds, and a maximum of 2 songs from the same artist can be used for one CD. Once the 3 first songs submitted, the artiste must wait until an other audition round is open to send new ones.
4. How the songs will be selected for the CD ?
The recording quality is the most important aspect for the song selection. Comes them the talent and voice, the choice of song and the time remaining on the CD.
5. What happen next when a song is selected ?
The artist will receive a notice and a request for him/her to send her/his personal info to go along the song tag and the website. The song(s) will be then compile on the CD and release.
6. What happen next when a song is not chosen ?
A song wont be selected if the recording quality is poor and deficient (background noises, mic noises, breath sounds, bad sound effects...), when an other artist have submitted the same song in a higher quality recording, or when the time limit of the CD has been reached.
Good songs can be retained for the next CD if the time limit is the limiting factor.
A singer must not be upset or frustrated if his/her songs are not choosen. As long as the project is online and ongoing, the artist can submit new songs for the next audition rounds and improve the quality of their recordings.
7. Where can have access to the CD ?
The CD will be distributed on hard copies, bittorrent and via a SoundClick account. For free.
8. How do we audition ??
Send an Email to : choralesailor[antispam]hotmail.com
Songs : You must send ONLY ONE SONG PER EMAIL, in mp3 format with the following info (attached as a txt file if possible)
- Artist name
- Email
- Song title and original artist
- One website URL (if applicable)
Do not expect reviews/critics/comments for all the songs submitted, but we may send a few comments if a song has the potential to be choosen for a CD and if we think that the singer can improve minor things that will allow the song to be chosen.
All the songs submitted and artist personal info wont be distributed in any way without the artist explicit permission.
Finally, we dont want this project to hurt anyone's feeling or expectations. Just like iany other projects and auditions, some songs will be retained, some not, and we wont give a reason each time.
