The big scare lately on many health related news topics is of course, Asian flu.
How are we as a civilized world when we talk about the possible death of millions of people by some pandemic, when they are simply DROWNING!
I have heard that the flu virus may is the catalyst for lungs filling up with mucouse material, drowning the victims? Is that true? In short, it is not the virus that kills the person, it is the effect of the virus on the body mechanism for CLEARING the mucous consequence of that virus.
From a lay persons point of view, from someone like myself who watched my cousin die from cystic fibrosis... his parents watched the final moments... these victims also drown! So why can't we clear the lungs!?
WHY CAN'T SCIENTISTS FLOOD THE INFECTED LUNGS WITH PENICILLIN DRUGS, then flush out the lungs one-by-one with sonic waves, loosening up the inflamed mucous!
Step one, put the patient on life support, with intravenous oxygen rich injections.
Step two, flood one lung with oxygen rich, penicillin rich fluids, then sonically vibrate the mucous loose, and suck out the infected tissues, sparing as much lung tissue as possible.
Step three, repeat the process on the second lung.
Is any of this possible? I have heard that human patients have already had fluid lung experiments, using oxygen rich fluids.
Impossible? Improbable? Good idea or ridiculous idea?
