Well the tank would not disintegrate like that unless hit by something substantially more powerful than a shoulder launched ATGM, more like a Hellfire Mavrick. Also the two photos of the tank being hit are from different tanks being hit at different directions. Im also sure that the weapon that hit it was different. Looking at the movie the weapon in slow is too large to be a shoulder launched version. Also the damage doesn't correspond to that sort of weaponry

this tank was hit by a weapon significantly larger than the shoulder launched version that was shown. (An american TOW) Note its not in a million pieces.

this one was hit by either a mavrick or a Hellfire, a very large missile that is twice the size of a TOW. Also its a earlier tank (T-55 vs a T-72 in the first photo) which means it is less sturdy. I think the One in the movie is a T-62 or 72.

the anti-tank weapon most often used everywhere is the RPG-7V. Made in many countries. Bore diameter=40mm.
Weight=19.6 lbs Warhead diameter=73mm up to 93mm
Warhead fuze type=electric Max effective range-300 meters but usually used under 200 meters. The muzzle velocity depends on warhead type=110 to 140 MPS
It can penetrate 260 to 500mm of armor depending on warhead type. This is the model most used in Iraq now.

i think that was a Javelin anti-tank weapon, range 2,500m ( correct me if anything is wrong)
It attacks from above where the tank is weakest and it has a tandem warhead hollow-charge.

hollow charge - explotion is directed forward like a metallic beam.
counter messure to that is reactive armor, basically 2 plates with explocives in between, placed outside the main armor. it explodes and desturbs the course of the beam from the hollow charge.

counter messure to reactive armor is Tandem charge.
basically a precursor warhead that detonates the reactive armor first giving the main warhead free passage.

the good thing about hollow-charge weapons is that, no matter how slowly the weapon travels, it's the warhead that packs the punch. no tank is safe.
kinetical weapons are too heavy to be carried by infantry



(It looked to me like that T-72 was blown up from the inside, not by any shoulder launched weapon...)
