Anyways the point I am trying to make here is that from all the threads and the stuff I have read through the net, it appears that there is practically very few people if any who believe that Pro-Japan Chinese exists.

Second and third generation ABCs (american born chinese) and EBCs (european born chinese) do tend to hold more positive views about Japan, and yes chinese otakus do exist but many people seems to be super-surprised that they exist.

Also there is a new generation of ex-mainland chinese who do not like the PRC government are taking more active roles in promoting democratic reforms and human rights. Remember that guy that won the nobel prize for being an anti-ccp activist? Surely his role and many other activists seems and many well intentioned anti-ccp folks are being grossly downplayed even in the media. Not to mention that people seem to get shocked when they meet a Chinese that doesn't hate Japan and allowing bygones be bygones regarding the past.

Regarding the anti-chinese postings I have read so far, it is completely counter-productive to attack chinese who are anti-ccp be they dissidents, defectors or ABCs who are not interested in eastern politics much less dwell on the past.

People protest about freeing tibet but never protest for freeing political prisoners and activists and those who are trying to break the stereotype that "all chinese are commies". Many tiananmen square survivors are still stuck in a gulag somewhere. Where the actions of Tianamen Square and the recent nobel prize winner completely in vain?

It does seem to me that the chinese who don't fit the stereotype of "japan hating commie who worships mao" are squelched (and their existence denied) because it comflicts with the agenda of groups here and elsewhere. And for some reason anti-chinese sentiments need to demonize an entire population.

While I am all for positive democratic reforms and human rights promotion in China, I its just unfair to bash an entire group of chinese, especially those who risked their lives to speak out against the ccp.

Another theory is that perhaps some people bashing chinese on here for example needs the CCP/PRC as a fuel source to push an agenda. If the CCP/PRC where to be miraculously dismantled overnight, right wing groups like the Uyoku Dantai would be less active and influential basing on the fact that a relativity large proportion of their discussions involve the CCP/PRC.

On the other end of the globe, you have the "they took our jobs" brigade in the west. But instead of putting the responsibility of the economy on the government and corporate elites, the blame of economic downfall in the west is placed on some average Joe from a foreign nation like China or India for things beyond his/her control. This is when you have things like having a 2nd or 3rd gen ABC being personally blamed for invading tibet even when the accused ABC has never even set foot anywhere on asia.

No doubt there are alot of chinese being brainwashed by the CCP. But that doesn't mean chinese who don't agree with the ccp doesn't exist.

Is this really so difficult to comphrehend??

And just out of curiousity, are pro-japan, anime loving chinese really that rare? That seeing a chinese anime fan is like seeing Obama becoming president for the first time?

It seems alot of the posts here comes down to something along the lines of: "if you are chinese then you hate japanese and are a ccp agent who is also planning against the west on the side".

And for the few posts that try to remind people that their are open minded chinese who don't think that way. they seem ignored.

Which posts of JREF are you referring to?

This is not a thread which, when historical posting attitudes have been properly and fully considered, should be allowed to remain in this sub-forum, for any sane reason. I make the motion, as a concerned and more active member, that either this thread be moved to some other, more fitting, sub-forum (if not the trash bin way down there), or closed.

^^

Um.... where should I put this thread then? it seems the historical sections seems to have disappeared. i.e. china section gives me an error when I click on it. At least thats what is showing on my browser.

Which posts of JREF are you referring to?

Lets use the most recent one for example:

Japan flare up tensions to return its military power

For me the topic is not the issue about Japan having a military or not. But the tone of anti-chinese racism can be seen though.

Quote from poster Hezam for example:

"........why do chinese people hate japan...."

This is one example of trying to generalize the whole population 1.3 billion. Also people like ABCs have practically nothing to do with tibet or east turkestan so why do chinese who have nothing to do with tibet or turkestan have to take the brunt of the blame and not the ccp government??

He should have said why SOME chinese support ccp or SOME chinese hate japan.

ALSO if the OP (ghostofthefallen) of that thread really is a politician of the ccp and is saying inappropriate stuff, then he/she is a poor example as well as a poor excuse to judge all chinese by the actions and words of the ccp.

What do people here think of this guy for example:
Home | The National Post Home Page | National Post

This is just one of many other chinese activists are jailed. and is an example that not all chinese are brainwashed crazies like Hezam for example claims them to be just because a person just happens to be ethnically chinese.

As i know,China and Japan have a long history of wars...and i watch in the news channels a lot of chinese/japanese protesters,So i asked that question.
You know the Eastern & southern part of China was under Japan occupation during the Japan Empire and world war.

But i don't know when did i claim that chinese are crazies ?

Sure I know about the past. But like you said its the past. Some chinese may dwell on the past but I disagree that all of them do. Some chinese do move forward though.

But at least from what I have interpreted from your past posts it does seem blurry as to whether you are just angry at the chinese ultranationalists roaming here or the entire chinese race as a whole including those born abroad.

Experience wise, its limited to a classroom environment during my high school years. The chinese I met there have very limited chinese, but speak excellent english. They watch anime, listen to j-pop and don't grudge over history. Its usually the open-minded chinese that are often being labeled for things that the CCP did that really bothers me. Which is why I am thinking that the anti-chinese sentiment is more "racially charged" rather than just a political one alone. With the CCP being used as a cover to hate an entire race as a whole. Otherwise I don't see why people are so inclined on grouping together an entire population and assume they all support the ccp, hate japan, the west and things like that.

I'm not angry at chinese people neither any other people,Why would i be angry at Chinese ?
Maybe you saw my post about the Chinese Government when i said they killed a lot of Turkestani people and Tibetians.

Chinese are good people, they were a lot of them working in my country (Yemen)...They are respectful, polite, and They do their works very well.

Well my apologies to you then.

But quite a few people here do have some baggage with chinese though. This is probably a better example by another user:

Japanese opinions of other races

For user MTR: he should have rephrased it better by saying " you must be someone who supports or works for the ccp " rather than " you must be chinese or korean ". As the latter phrase does sound overgeneralizing.

I mean what chinese or korean is he (MTR) refering to? a third generation ABC? or the anime fan at the anime convention that kinda looks chinese? the nobel prize dissident and other anti-ccp activists who was jailed? Perhaps he wasn't too sure and decided to just group them all together and name them the ccp/prc brigade using the "they all look same" rule. That however does not mean "they all think same". As soon as one person thinks differently it defeats the purpose of the word "all" to describe an entire race of people.

Hezam, I apologize for singling you out, but I was trying to make the point that simple phrases like that are too common here for issues that are more complex than just black and white. But since you re-explained your words I understand what you are referring to.

No problem mecharmor23,In fact i agree with you in this point,No one mentioned it before.
Also,I appreciate correcting me if i'm wrong in any way.

:)

Umm, you do realize that most of the posters you are highlighting probably fall into the ultranationalist camp of Japanese opinion and thus are not representative of the majority of the populace's views?

Secondly whatever the view about the Chinese people, that does not refer to the CCP. Yes, the Chinese embrace a wide array of perspective and many are pro-america and pro-Japanese. However the Chinese government actually offers a highly coherent vision that often includes inflaming anti-Japanese sentiments. And from my perspective, their views are not reflective of the Chinese people's perspective. Rather it has its own perspective and it attempts to shape the public's views to meet that.

I've met too many Japanese people who sadly hold ultra-nationalist beliefs. It's a shame too, as they are probably living anger-filled lives. Bigotry is so weird to me. I was born in 1988, so I suppose it makes sense that I don't feel hate towards people based on skin color, ethnicity, and so on. Someone born decades earlier would understand it better than me.

..No reason for it at all. Hate breeds more hate.

chinese are very good people but with very bad gov , i was there one day , they are very modest but them gov make them poor

I prefer Japan because I have an affinity for people who keep the peace and promote harmony to rude, pushy, and in my opinion TOO direct people.

But they are two completely different worlds. Each has it's virtues. Some will like one and some the other. Connecting with a foreign culture is made of many intangibles that are often, and sometimes entirely, emotional...

chinese , japanese or any others , all same because all human, so human can do many things right and something wrong , but the problem always in the governments and foreign policies , and civilians pay for them mistakes , foreign policies that are causing hostility between peoples or love and affection between each other , as we see if any war happend betwen 2 countries , you find all the people in these two countries hate each other , as we see betwen iraq , afganistan .... and us but the real problem is comeing from us administration not american people.
that happend in all wars like korean and other.....
whatever your country or whatever my country , we are all human , we should all love each other ,and respect each other

Not all Japanese hates Chinese, as it is the same the other way around. I've Chinese friends who hates Japan, but is friends with a Japanese. Ironic eh. Same thing as Chinese vs brainwashed Chinese. I was in China this summer and talked to locals. Most aren't brainwashed; they are very aware of what's happening with their own country. As for their attitudes towards Japanese, again some are still very angry, some dislike(but could be persuaded away from that, as I've done it before), and some don't even hate, if not, befriended Japanese and donated to the earthquake. So with that said, I think it's important for people who's not been to China, should go and take a look, and I said the same to the Chinese in China to go look at Japan.

Oh fyi, I'm from HK.

Lastly, I will never say CCP is a good government, but as both an observer, critic, and judge of it, it is not what most people outside China think it is. The only two things I can confirm will be the corrupted and rotten system, but other than that, it's doing its job right, and it will lead to a better China. And when China matures, CCP will disappear for a democratic, though unnecessarily multi-party, governance.(China can't handle multi-party, and references of Japan (DPJ vs LDP), US (Reps vs Dem), all showed vivid examples of how politicians there are more concerned over their own election than doing anything useful to advance the countries they work for)

CCP is a transitional party of a modern China in maturing, but it is not representative of the Chinese nation, which most people blur the lines of. The people in China thinks the same, where they do not see the party as the representation or of what China is, but where it will lead to. Same thing as they see China as the Chinese nation and civilization, not what the Communist Party is. Mark my words, as I support my own people (not the Party, and never will) that we will build a nation that is responsible and mature, and I look forward to me not being wrong. Not because of my ego, but because I envision China to be responsible and peaceful, and able to get along with others as well as with we are capable of achieving, we extend our influence to help others around the globe. Africa is an example, and EU's financial crisis too.

I can't agree more

hey! this is Soroush coming back from China! sorry for not being around, but I had quite a lot of work to do there. China was so much fun!
as for the question, from what I saw there, many things that Ravan said are true. I saw many Chinese people who "said" that they don't like Japan, but nearly 70% of all of their cars had Japanese brands of Toyota and Nissan and they really didn't mind.
from what I felt, they regret that a small country like Japan could attack their "almighty" ;) country and somehow feel that, "that shouldn't have happened". they talked about how Japanese had no mercy in killing and abusing them and blaming their government of that time for not having good weaponry.
but aside from history, I saw no bad nationalism or something like that there. all of them were polite, hard working and very kind towards the foreigners and I really saw nothing bad from them. (except for the loud sound of clearing throat and spitting that you hear here and there :P)
they didn't have bad intentions for Japanese as I saw for multiple times that in a restaurant they greeted some Japanese people with great care, saying something like "hey look! they're Japanese people! cool!" (actually a Chinese boy who was with us translated it, so I'm not sure).
From my point of view, they think of Japanese people like Canadians to Americans. some knew some words, like arigato, konnichiwa,... and some said they're no fun at work, always saying Baka! joudan ja nei! (I think I spelled it wrong, I meant baka! don't make jokes!)
that was what I saw and felt back there. they're cool!
and Hezam, to think that Hezam means belt or sword's belt! It's cool! I asked it in the airport from a Saudi Arabian boy who was studying master's degree of Finance in Seattle. he thought that I'm an Arab! coming to me saying Ahlan! (hello!) (I actually do have some Arabian relatives in Emirates ^^) all in all, my journey to the east was fun!

I'm not sure about JapN but I'm pretty sure that anti-chinese sentiment is really really strong in my country. Most of us think that Chineses are dirty, carelessness and male domination.

Most of us think that Chineses are dirty

Feeling is mutual amongst Chinese that I acquainted ~ also ( non-Chinese people ) think Viets are dirty if more.

male domination.

Chineman dominated Vietnam for over a century 🙂

Funny ~ there are Viet girls throw themselves to Chinamen and flock to them like bees. Most would marry any Chinese guy ( maybe not those mainland commies :D ) from Vietnam & Hong Kong Taiwan.

Viets are inherently back-stabbing people :( ~ can't be trusted :(

It's kind of funny how you are generalising us while telling us not to do it. Or I just misunderstood you.
In any case, it's not just Japan and the Asian countries who dislike the Chinese. Here in Belgium there are a lot of anti-chinese people. Most of them think that they all are Communists who are waiting for us to lower our guards so they can conquer us. This is probably government propaganda though, who are afraid of China because they are getting stronger in the global market. As for me, I don't really know. I never met/spoke to a Chinese person, so I'll remain neutral.

P.S.: sorry for the bad writing, I'm typing this from my phone.
