Anyways the point I am trying to make here is that from all the threads and the stuff I have read through the net, it appears that there is practically very few people if any who believe that Pro-Japan Chinese exists.
Second and third generation ABCs (american born chinese) and EBCs (european born chinese) do tend to hold more positive views about Japan, and yes chinese otakus do exist but many people seems to be super-surprised that they exist.
Also there is a new generation of ex-mainland chinese who do not like the PRC government are taking more active roles in promoting democratic reforms and human rights. Remember that guy that won the nobel prize for being an anti-ccp activist? Surely his role and many other activists seems and many well intentioned anti-ccp folks are being grossly downplayed even in the media. Not to mention that people seem to get shocked when they meet a Chinese that doesn't hate Japan and allowing bygones be bygones regarding the past.
Regarding the anti-chinese postings I have read so far, it is completely counter-productive to attack chinese who are anti-ccp be they dissidents, defectors or ABCs who are not interested in eastern politics much less dwell on the past.
People protest about freeing tibet but never protest for freeing political prisoners and activists and those who are trying to break the stereotype that "all chinese are commies". Many tiananmen square survivors are still stuck in a gulag somewhere. Where the actions of Tianamen Square and the recent nobel prize winner completely in vain?
It does seem to me that the chinese who don't fit the stereotype of "japan hating commie who worships mao" are squelched (and their existence denied) because it comflicts with the agenda of groups here and elsewhere. And for some reason anti-chinese sentiments need to demonize an entire population.
While I am all for positive democratic reforms and human rights promotion in China, I its just unfair to bash an entire group of chinese, especially those who risked their lives to speak out against the ccp.
Another theory is that perhaps some people bashing chinese on here for example needs the CCP/PRC as a fuel source to push an agenda. If the CCP/PRC where to be miraculously dismantled overnight, right wing groups like the Uyoku Dantai would be less active and influential basing on the fact that a relativity large proportion of their discussions involve the CCP/PRC.
On the other end of the globe, you have the "they took our jobs" brigade in the west. But instead of putting the responsibility of the economy on the government and corporate elites, the blame of economic downfall in the west is placed on some average Joe from a foreign nation like China or India for things beyond his/her control. This is when you have things like having a 2nd or 3rd gen ABC being personally blamed for invading tibet even when the accused ABC has never even set foot anywhere on asia.
No doubt there are alot of chinese being brainwashed by the CCP. But that doesn't mean chinese who don't agree with the ccp doesn't exist.
Is this really so difficult to comphrehend??
And just out of curiousity, are pro-japan, anime loving chinese really that rare? That seeing a chinese anime fan is like seeing Obama becoming president for the first time?
It seems alot of the posts here comes down to something along the lines of: "if you are chinese then you hate japanese and are a ccp agent who is also planning against the west on the side".
And for the few posts that try to remind people that their are open minded chinese who don't think that way. they seem ignored.
