I don't know why I never thought of bringing these two worlds together until now.
There is another site which I post on and moderate which is related to cars called anti-rice.com. As you can imagine, with a URL like that, we get a lot of hate mail. In a way, that's kind of intentional since bad PR is still PR. It's no big deal since it's more of a joke site anyway.
The AR community has always been prejudged and labelled racist, biased, stupid, etc.. all which is untrue. So before anyone jumps to conclusions, I'll give an explaination of what the site is all about. I'll start by defining "rice" itself.
Wikipedia gives a pretty good idea of what rice is. Two important things to remember about rice are that:
1 - Not all ricers are Asian cars
2 - Not all Asian cars are rice
In fact, here in the United States, there are is probably the same ratio of domestic rice to import rice as there are domestics to imports in general.
Rice, is generally any car which has tacky esthetic 'enhancements' applied to make it look faster without giving the car any more performing capability. For example, 3" exhaust tips (aka fart cannon, melon shooter, fart tip), fiberglass body kits, loud paint schemes, neon lights, badging from other types of vehicles, performance parts decals, etc. -- All these are typical things a rice-boy/girl might apply to his/her vehicle. If these items are applied on a car that can pull 12 seconds or less on the quarter-mile, then you begin to enter a grey area.
It doesn't matter whether the car has a V8, I4, or a flat 6. Any car can be riced out.
A 9-second '86 Honda Civic hatchback... This would most definately NOT be rice. In fact, that would be one bad *** Civic.
A stock '86 Honda Civic with an APC banner on the windshield, a WWI biplane tacked on the roof as a spoiler, and windsheild washer nozzle lights would be rice.
A stock LS1 Camaro SS with an APC banner on the windshield, a WWI biplane tacked on the roof as a spoiler, and windsheild washer nozzle lights is STILL rice.
A stock Honda Civic, as-is, is simply a stock Honda Civic.
The term "rice" is also not racial in any way. It does originate from the major exported good from Asia, however. The reason for this is, when rice started to gain popularity, the vehicles that were victim to such tastelessness were predominantly Asian-built. Now, anything from Geo Metros to Ford Excursions are riced out.

As for me? Whenever I'm asked if I prefer domestic or import cars, I simply reply "I like nice, fast cars." I've owned a 1972 AMC Javelin SST, and I've owned a Mistubishi Eclipse GS-Turbo... I currently own a sort of "mutt" of a car... A 1990 Ford Taurus SHO (American on the outside, but with a Yamaha engine and Mazda transmission).
The Anti-rice community, you will also find, is a diverse mix of import, domestic, and general car enthuisiasts. So if you come across it, or plan to check out the forums, try not to jump to conclusions.
