I applied for the scholarship from japanese private company this year and I will be in Japan on April 2012.
So, why don't you try to apply for the scholarship from the private japanese company in your country.
All you have to do is collecting the info as much as possible and then apply for it.
It depens on your country for the availibilty for this kind of scholarship.
In short, you can try to apply for u2u once again and you also can try for the private one like i did.
The amount of scholarship is slightly better than the government program and it covers the essential things as you need.
So..do not give up. You might find your luck on the next try.
how did u find it? i found just yoneyama memorial foundation and i will apply on september. does it depends of field of study, because im an ecologist?

Yes, it also depends on your field of study. But as far as I concerned, the science and engineering are the potential field of study to get this kind of scholarship. Conversely, the medical field and pharmacist is the less favorite one. That is the common things since the medical science will cost a huge money in the study.
I found this opportunity purely based on information on scholarship website.
I also read that some university in Japan offers this kind of information. So, try to collecting more info and try to correspondence with the alumnus or the current student from your country.
yup...biological science... ahh, i browsed internet and i just found rotary yoneyama memorial foundation.... i will send them an email now to ask some things...
