I know that the Ainu are not ethnic Japanese but i really love the Ainu people and culture too and i have a deep interest in the Ainu

If you go to Hokkaido you can see museums and village recreations. For example Upopoy National Ainu Museum and Park. Most Ainu or part Ainu live like/as Japanese now of course.
One of my US friends from my town who went to Japan to do some eikaiwa in Hokkaido married a woman who is mostly Ainu if I recall 75%. Her grandfather's boat is in an ainu museum in Shibetsu (the one towards Nemuro) which I have visited. When they came to my wedding in Nagasaki everyone knew she was different and i got questions about her background later so they can see the difference in face. She does not speak any Ainu language. Have you read "Our Land Was a Forest. An Ainu memoir" ?
