Please check my sentences...

The dog is red.
犬は赤い。
犬は赤いです。

The dog isn't red.
犬は赤くない。
犬は赤くありません。

The dog was red.
犬は赤かった。
犬は赤かったです or is it 犬は赤かったでした?

The dog wasn't red.
犬は赤くなかった。
犬は赤くありませんでした。

The cat is quiet.
猫は静かだ。
猫は静かです。

The cat isn't quiet.
猫は静かじゃない。
猫は静かじゃありません。

The cat was quiet.
猫は静かだった。
猫は静かでした。

The cat wasn't quiet.
猫は静かじゃなかった。
猫は静かじゃありませんでした。

赤かったです。 The tense is always carried in the adjective. It might take a while for this to snap. I always thought of it as one of the hurdles to smooth-flowing speech.

P.S.: How does one say "Shut up!" or "Be quiet!"?

うるさい is colloquial for "shut up" and 静かに(してください) would be the colloquial equivalent for "be quiet". だまって is another one, which is closer to "shut up".

Thanks a lot for your help!

In my workbook I've found section called -I and -NA adjectives. What are those? My workbook doesn't really explain it, but gives examples of it.

Another question, how would one transliterate these names into Japanese?

I've written a story in several different languages and most of them I translate this name, but in Russian I only transliterate this name, because it sounds silly being translated. Would this name sound funny for the main character translated? Or should it be transliterated?
-The name "Nucleus"

These names are from Mythology, if anyone knows what they're called.
Erebus
Bastet
Ra
Selene

Does one translate the Moon as Tsuki and the Sun as Nichi?

Oh, and how do you translate...
"By the power of the Earth" in Japanese

-i adjectives are the like the first ones you listed. the -i changes to -ku to make an adverb, -kunai for "isn't ...", -katta for "was ...", -kunakatta for "wasn't ..." etc.

na adjectives do not do this and you must change the desu at the end to change the tense or negate it. (If someone knows if there's an equivalent to the -i adjective ...-ku for -na adjectives, I'd like to know that). Also, when using -na adjectives before a noun, you must put na between them.

Example:Kore wa shizuka na neko desu.

If anyone can add to this or if something needs to be uhh, corrected, please do.

(If someone knows if there's an equivalent to the -i adjective ...-ku for -na adjectives, I'd like to know that).

You simply add a じゃない or whatever in place of a な to negate a NA-adjective.

貧乏な彼氏が欲しい (I want a poor boyfriend)
貧乏じゃない彼氏が欲しい (I want a boyfriend that's not poor)

Do you mean equivalent to 'ku' as in adverbial modifier + verb （強くなる） for 'na' adjectives ? :? That would be adjective + NI + verb （きれいになる）。

Thanks that's what I was asking for.
So basically [-ku form] + verb for -i adjectives and [adjective] + NI + verb for -na adjectives should mean the same thing grammatically?

変にする=strangely do (it)
速くする=quickly do (it)

not that I see it a lot or have much use for it, I just would think there would be a way since the -i adjectives are so flexible and more knowledge is always good.

I don't believe that this means what you think it means, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

Note that にする is a set grammatical pattern that means "make it...." For example, 静かにする means "make (yourself) quiet," so にする is better understood as "being...." And just because I feel like being silly: お前を犠牲者にしてやる (Lit. - I'm going to make you a sacrificial person. Better - I'm going to sacrifice you.)

私は「変にやる」と言えばいいと思っていました。けれども、それは変な日本語じゃないでしょうか。自然か不自然かはさっぱり分かりませんが、多分、不自然でしょう。

「やる」と「する」の違和感があるから「変なやり方をする」この文章は、論理的に奇妙な感じがします。ただそれが頭に浮かびました。日本語では、いままで[Do it strangely]を使った事はないので、どれが一番自然な言い方のかという質問ですが、私もわかりません。
