a question about "whose"

Hello, I would appreciate if someone told me the right way to ask this kind of questions. From what I´ve learned over the last few months there is a special word 誰の that means "whose". However I came across an excerise that included asking "whose mother was good at cooking".
The problem is that I only know simple affirmative senteces where I "have something" that I can use as an object (Ex : kore wa dare no kaban desu ka) but I dont know how to ask "whose mother is good at cooking?"

Yes. If what i was taught is correct it should be something like: 私 の お母さん は 料理 する の が 上手 です.
The problem is that I dont know how to transform it into the "object" from the example (to be more speficic: there is something that "kore" is referring to). There may be other ways of course, Im a japanese begginer

Hahahah, Im sorry If this is confusing you even more. I came up with an idea to explain what I want to know: I want a question(using whatever word has the function of "whose") that can be answered with 私 の お母さん は 料理 する の が 上手 です.

The main idea of my question is to learn how to create "whose" questions without the structure "kore wa dare no X desu ka" (the one that, up to this moment ,is the only one taught) because having a mother that is good at cooking(use whatever example you find appropiate) is incompatible with the "kore structure" question.

How about "Is your mother good at cooking?" ? Have you learned it?

However, let me try to be one repply ahead and tell you I was referring to "Whose mother Is good at cooking?" rather than a question that could lead me to that information.(I could use that question to each person in the group and get the same information)

Change "your" to "whose" in that question sentence.

Just to add one thing - you can just write 料理が上手 instead of 料理する のが上手.

That's right!
You can also say 料理が上手なのは誰のお母さんですか to avoid using double がs.

Yes, that sentence is correct. The structure is equivalent to my example.
これは誰のカバンですか
料理が上手なのは誰のお母さんですか

You can't say 誰のカバンがこれですか since これ is not a clause. When the topic is a clause, it can be rephrased.
e.g.
一番大きいのは誰のカバンですか
誰のカバンが一番大きいですか

Do not hesitate to ask questions. This is the place for learning.
