Kana's got backwards teeth... That's why she rarely smiles and her photo shoots are almost always taken from a higher angle or with her head slightly lowered. Kana wouldn't be pretty at all if her photos weren't so carefully constructed like that.

As for the others on the list. I LIKE them, but I wouldn't call some of them 'pretty' say ...um... (please don't kill me) Kyo. I know that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but no matter how I look at it, "pretty" doesn't capture Kyo's image.

I know what youre saying, dont worry about rabid fangirl syndrom attack lol. I think though that it depends also on what look theyre sporting. Normally I love the way Kyo looks but I dont think I would lable him beautifull. Some other adjictive to describe how much I like his looks...but not beautifull. However the pics I have of Kyo in drag are..well...beautifull! lol So go figure. I guess it just sort of depends on the day the time and the bottle of aquanet.

"Pretty" is a very specific word somehow... but I can't even define it exactly... ... it kind of suggests something a bit more feminine or even girly than "beautiful"... for example, Shinya is the only one from Dir en grey that I'd think of calling "pretty"... the others are more like "good looking"... but it also depends on how the photo is taken, too.

Indeed. But scince this is the only immediate thread of its kind (other than the manliest one) I just decided to take the word "pretty" at face value and just assume that it was referring to atractive. Because words like beautifull, pretty, gorgous ect ect carry so many different shades of mening its hard.

What makes it harder for me when describing looks is that I dont think that any of those words really hits the nail on the head so to speak. I mean yeah "good looking" is a given, but how do you really describe someone like kyo or someother Jrocker with similar looks?

Kyo isn't really beautiful or pretty, in fact most people who don't know J-Rock if they see a picture of him they tend to call him ugly. Yet he is my favorite member not because he looks the best (toshiya, die have the best looks imo). Yet he is the one I am drawn too, I mean from the first time I saw Diru when even I thought Kyo was a bit unnatractive, he was always the one that always drew my attention. In fact he kind of snuck on me, even though I was like I LOOOOVE Die I noticed that some time ago, I gained more pictures of Kyo, more videos of Kyo then anyone else, and he kind of snuck up on me as my favorite.

But not to say Kyo is ugly but he is just really handsome, I don't think pretty or beautiful does him justice.

geez... I can't really have a 'favourite'... I can't do that... not even in looks... they are all just... different...
But Kyo, yeah... in a nutshell, his face don't do much for me (plus I don't normally like short guys so much...), but his body is HOT STUFF!!! And his ability at stage performance, emotion, and choices of style/look, they add to his unique aura which creates the charisma (or whatever you like to call it).

I thought Kyo has this thing......that makes people....whatchumacallit.....like what kinsao and elanor said "his unique aura which creates the charisma" and being 'prepossessing' and 'mesmeric', just makes you fall for him! I always think Kyo as the ancestors of jrock(they've been around for a pretty long time isn't? ) I guess it's just how uniquely he express himself on stage and through music, their music is so deep and wonderfully created like a piece of art

seriously, at least that's how I look at music...I would think like 'oh, this song have so many areas that can be changed and improved' or 'why did they add that there?' or 'wth was that!?' on the other hand...'this song is so wonderfully put together with the bass, drum, vocal, guitar...etc that nothing can be pull apart from one another' 'every tempo, sound, vocal is just at the right place'...etc etc
some of my favorite piece of Dir En Grey were 'Ain't Afraid to Die' 'Obscure'
(some people find the PV disturbing put I found it very well made in expressing the music ) 'The Final' 'Kodou' 'Cage' ...just to name a few

Cage makes me laugh. The part at the end where kyo's all into looking at his pinky. And the penis syringe hes carrying while stalking the ballereena girl.

BUt the music adds another demintion to him and I enjoy watching the change from erra to erra. I think thats another big point to why i find him attractive....

yeah..I have to say, I really dislike their styles back then with the clown-like makeup and I only like the music part more than the PV part of 'Cage' (penis syringe, HAHAHAHA!!!), I think what really makes me change their whole point of view is 'Obscure', I luv that style of freakish-blackness

I havent seen yet...

I kind of like the excessive make up. Although I might not like all of there looks at first sight I do enjoy them heartily/ Yes, even the alien creature that was posing as a hat to eat diru's brains.

I also like how they never feel the need to have the uniform thing going on 24/7. They each havine something differnt going on, that highlights them in different ways and theyre not afraid to do it or wear it. Individuality gets big points in my book too.
