A different usage of Aを中心とするB

Hello there everyone.

Once again I find myself confused by a japanese expression:

Match Announcer: はたして、この試合に勝って晴れの全国大会に出場するのは昨年の代表修哲を中心とする南葛ｓ。ｃか. はたまたこの決勝までまったく危なげなくパーフェクトの試合をつづけてきた名門 「志水ｓ。ｃ」か

obs:修哲 、 志水 and 南葛 are soccer teams;

I am a bit lost while trying to comprehend the bolded part. I cant get a grasp on whats the meaning behind "昨年の代表修哲を中心とする南葛" , this usage of を中心 is bugging me.

修哲 is the major members of 南葛S.C..

So I should comprehend that "nankatsu soccer club is based/revolves around shuutetsu's players"

That makes sense though I couldnt make sense out of it alone, I'm not used to this pattern involving two nouns of the same nature.
