Are stores, museums, restaurants, and attractions normally closed on Showa Day? My companions and I were planning a shopping trip but may need to alter plans if all the shops will be closed.

This is the first Saturday of "Golden Week." Suggestions and advice appreciated!

Most shops will probably be open. Museums and attractions should be checked individually.

Museums etc., usually are open on public holidays (with the exception of the end of the year when nearly everything shuts down) then they close the day after the public holiday.

Yes, I think your bigger problem will be the crowds of people in the shops, museums, restaurants, etc... Plan ahead and make sure you have reservations when/where needed.
