Hi Jack (love your name)

Good luck with the JLPT, which level are you going to take? There are lot's of resources and tips on the forum so I hope it can help you a bit.

Why do you want to become an English teacher? It's really not always that much fun... especially after a couple of years (imo).

Enjoy the forum and sorry for the late welcome!

Thanks for the welcome =]

I'm taking the N5 so I feel confident about it but at the same time feel rather nervous because I haven't been through the process yet so not sure what to expect. And thanks for the luck, I'll need it.

I want to be a teacher because I want to be able to help the younger generations growing up and pass on what I know to them. I'm pretty sure I will enjoy it but of course I might like you grow tired of it at which point I would move onto doing something else that capitalises on my interests at that point in time.

皆さん、こんにちは!(Hello Everyone!)

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but the great bulk of English "teaching" jobs have about as close a relation to genuine education as a bologna sandwich has to French cuisine. You pretend to teach English to people who are pretending to learn it.

There are serious educators doing serious educating, but your odds of falling into one of those positions by chance are nil. Get yourself a Master's degree and any appropriate certification in TESOL or the like if you're serious. Avoid like the plague any place that teaches "English conversation", unless the "pretending" appeals to you and you have no intention of making a career of it. It isn't a teaching career; it is a job flipping language burgers.

As disheartening as it is to read this I must thank you for the heads up.
Would you be able to tell me more about your experiences on the topic?

Hi Casio =] Thank you very much.

皆さん、こんにちは!(Hello Everyone!)

You'd get more current info asking people who are in the field. I left it a long time ago.

Hello and welcome! ^__^

You say you love languages, so of course I'm very curious what languages you can speak?
What's your favorite language so far? :)
