Konnichiwa lexico-san! Glenn-san!

Yes, 献(simplified) < 獻(traditional). And left part of 獻 is made of 「虎 : tiger」 and 「鬲 : tripod kettle」. It is the tripod kettle with tiger ornament and means splendid dish.

And left part of 献 is 南, but it is simplified word of 「虎 : tiger」 and 「鬲 : tripod kettle」 from 獻. In this case, 「南」 has not any meaning because it is substitute.
Originally 「南 : minami」 means south. My name 「南木」 means south tree. :roflmao:

Konnichiwa, Nangi-san, Glenn-san!
Thank you for the information!
I'd hate to play twice in a row, but since I've caused all this confusion, I'm responsible for bringing it back.

京 「みやこ, きょう; 吳. kyou, 漢. kei, 唐. kin」 - capital city; Kyoto 京都; 10 quadrillion = 10,000,000,000,000,000

The dwelling place 口 of 高 is replaced by a pillar I in 京.

尖 as in 尖塔「せんとう」
a steeple; a spire
small on top and big at the bottom, just like pagoda.

Konnichiwa Mina-san!

美しい うつくしい/Utsukushii "beautiful"

This Kanji 「美しい」 is made by 「羊:ひつじ」 and 「大:おおきい」. 「羊:hitsuji」 means a sheep, and 「大: Ookii」 means a big. Why "big sheep" means "beautiful"? Because God like a beautiful sacrifice.

鮮 「セン、あざ・やか」 - fresh; vivid; clear; brilliant; Korea

Konnichiwa Mina-san!

鰯 「いわし」 -sardine
left part 「魚」 is a fish, right part 「弱」 is a weak. Is sardine a weak fish?
Oh, sardine is not a strong fish certainly.

強 「キョウ、ゴウ、つよ・まる、つよ・める、しい・ る、こわ・い、T1、すね」 - strong

Man that one has a lot of readings! By the way, can we lose at this game? I mean, even if we break a rule, do we get to keep playing? I'm guessing that repeating kanji is against the rules, and I'm not so sure anyone's been paying attention to that.

引 「ひ・いん」 to pull

旧 「キュウ、ふる・い、もと」 - old times; old things; old friend; former; ex-

景「hikage, hikari, kage; G. kyou, you; K. kei, ei」 -- daylight, scenery

(graph of) the sun above the elevated structure

涼 「リョウ、すず・しい、すず・む、すず・やか、う す・い、ひや・す、まことに、T1 りょ」 - refreshing; nice and cool

Gojira is Gay ?

鯨 「kujira, okujira; G. gyou, K. kei, tr. gei」 - whale

(onomatopoeia of) a whale's exhaling gush of breath ? *KLVM*
This is a serious post: please do not take offense of the humor in either the title or the content.

鯛 「チョウ、たい」 - sea bream; red snapper

As in 泉鯛 (いずみだい) -- tilapia.

I love these fish characters, Glenn! (water animals, not typological)
Let do more fish, everyone!

Well, actually that's the only one that I know.

鯖(さば): mackerel (I think )

Combination of 魚 (fish) and 青 (blue)

With apologies to lexico, I'll depart from the fish kanji. I'm sure we can work our way back to them, though.

靖 「セイ、ジョウ、やす・んじる、 T1のぶ、やす 、やすし、しず、おさむ、きよし」 - peaceful

Fine with me, Glenn. Artifacts are good, too, and so are natural objects.

笠 「かさ; G. & K. りゅう」 - conic (bamboo) hat, shade.

Incidentally, かさ (kasa) is kunyomi for 傘 (kasa) - parasol, shape, umbrella

Live and kicking with only 5,905 more to go!

喬 「たかい; G. gyou; K. kyou」 - tall (as in archaism 喬木, modern 高木, tall tree over 3 m.)

向 「コウ、む.く む.い -む.き む.ける -む.け む.かう む.かい む.こう む.こう- むこ むか.い T1 こお た な むか むかい むこう」 yonder; facing; beyond; confront; defy; tend toward; approach
