Hi guys,
Is this かも the same one that is used in かもしれない。 as in probably?

油がどこに流れていくかも調べています

Investigating where the oil will probably flow to.

「油がどこに流れていくか」も調べています

It is the same as かも知れない but it doesn't take the same meaning ("probably" comes from the 知れない part, really). Although I suppose in some cases you could have an embedded sentence ending in かも (as a short form of かも知れない) but it can't be that かも here.

も I think in this case, like かも分からなくて、調べている、 serves to emphasize the unpredictability or uncertainties of the flow that could cause actual results to differ from the projected models.

Nekojita-san parsed it correctly. も means "too/also" there. They are investigating something that must be mentioned previously, and the direction of the oil flow, too.

That is my screw up. :sorry: I honestly didn't see the initial answer and was in any case using it to indicate a contrasting situation 油がどこに流れていくかも(わからないので) by which {も]は強調と思います。なくても良いですね。
