(橋 and 端) 発音

Some teachers taught me that the pronunciation of 橋 and 端 are different, as the し in 橋 is slightly higher pitch than the し in 端. (As in the link above)

But other teachers taught me that both し are pronounced the same, the only difference is the pitch of the particle following it.

My question is, should I pronounce the し differently or the same way? Which way is more 標準?
 
橋 and 端 are the same as a single word, but they are different when with particles.
e.g.
single word
橋 /ハシ=/ (flat accent)
端 /ハシ=/ (flat accent)

with the particle が
橋が /ハシ]ガ/ (accent is on シ, low-high-low)
端が /ハシガ=/ (flat accent)
