Hi,

1. 「ぼくが殺した海賊ほど大きかないね。」

I hope this is not a really stupid question, but I am having a blank with 大きかない. What is it?

2. 「みんな、そーっとベッドにもぐりこんで、おかあさんはいっていらした時も、そのままでいるのよ、まるで一番も、どこへもいかなかったみたいに。」

a) I understand the basic meaning of this sentence OK. However, I am unclear how そのままでいるのよ connects grammatically with the last part of the sentence. I assume that の nominalises, and that よ is some kind of emphasis, but then what?

b) Also, what is the purpose of に at the end? Is it an instruction/suggestion, basically saying "we should act like this"?

c) Is いらした a -た form of いらっしゃる?

1)
A colloquial/slangy form of 大きくはない

2)
おかあさんはいっていらした時も and まるで一も?

a)
~のよ is a soft order used by female. It's stronger than そのままでいてね and softer than そのままでいなさい.

b)
It's an inversion (again).

どこへもいかなかったみたいに、そのままでいるのよ。

c)
Yes. It sounds a bit classical and refined than いらっしゃった.

Thanks Toritoribe

2) Yeah, sorry for the typos!
