The other day I watched "The tale of Princess Kaguya", a very very nice anime film. In it, some kids sing the まわれ popular song. I liked it very much and looked up the lyrics. I understand the overall meaning, but I don't quite get the following:

まわってお日(おひ)さん呼んで(よんで)こい
春(はる)夏(なつ)秋(あき)冬(ふゆ)連れて(つれて)こい

What's the purpose of adding こい to the end of those sentences? I'm guessing こい is the imperative of 来る. But I don't understand the combination of て form + こい.

Do something + come? 食べてくる = Eat and come?

Right. Thus, 呼んでくる/連れてくる means "to go and get~ / bring~".

くる【来る】
8 〔「…してくる」の形で〕
(2)〔ある動作をして戻ってくる〕
新聞を取ってきてくれ
Fetch me the newspaper.
だれだか行って見てきなさい
Go and see who is at the door.
母を連れてきました
I have brought my mother.
