1. ストライキとは従業員の集団が一体となって就労を拒否することです。

Translation given: "A strike is a mass refusal to work by a body of employees."

What is the purpose of と in ストライキとは? Is it possibly a quoting particle?

A： 「近藤さんはきのう慌てて家を出たので、くつ下の右と左が別々なことに気がつかなかったらしいよ」
B: 「いかにも彼女らしいね」

a) To me the first sentence looks like "Apparently Mr/Ms Kondo left the house yesterday in a flap, and didn't notice that his left and right socks were separate(d)." Unfortunately, the second part of this makes no sense. What does it mean?

b) I am very unsure about the second sentence. Could it mean "Yeah, that's just like her!"?


3. 彼は前回の好景気の間に財産を株取り引きのあてた。

Translation given: "He amassed a fortune in stock trading during the last boom."

How does the grammar of 株取り引きのあてた work?


4. "男" has complained that his stomach hurts:

女： それはいけませんよ。薬をあげましょうか。
男： すみません。どうも今朝食べたものがいけなかったみたいです。

My translation:

Woman: That's bad. Shall I get you some medicine?
Man: Thanks. I think I ate something bad this morning.

Is this correct? Is すみません a sort of apologetic "thank you"? Is どうも an intensifier of some sort in this case?

Originally, yes. You can think "～と（いうの）は、･･･（という/の）ことです" as a kind of set phrase for definition/explanation.

別々 means "different" in this case. She (B called 近藤さん as 彼女) put on a different pair of socks.

b)
Yes, 彼女らしい means so. B says her behavior "putting on a different pair of socks" is typical of something she would do.

It must be 株取り引きにあてた.

Isn't it それはいけませんね?

Yes for すみません. どうも means "apparently" here.
