Got any tips on learning Hiragana and Katakana? I read a Memnonic site that explained them quite well, but in practice its quite frustrating since I need to remeber the Memnonic and after that I can remember the actual symbol.
And damn, the sites I have used to learn the symbols, they are in like font 50, but when you write them to forums for example, they are damn small thus harder to differ which is which.

I would avoid reliance on mnemonic devices too much; as you've already discovered, it just creates another layer of information that you have to penetrate. There are not that many characters to remember, so just practice reading and writing them until you are comfortable with it. It'll take some persistence, but you'll be better off for it.
