This was the first time we had tried Kojima's other brand, Retsu. Junmai Daiginjō Dewasanzan Kuratsukikōbo has a piquant aroma, lactic undertones and a hint of alcohol. The initial taste is incredibly smooth and mild, with a subtle sweetness that brings to mind a medley of berries and melon. This is balanced by a high level of acidity and a rejuvenating bitterness. The sake has a velvety feel and a medium body, embodying both elegance and sophistication. The finish leaves a pleasantly sour sensation.
