Himonoya Brewery is the smallest of the four sake breweries in Nihonmatsu, Fukushima Prefecture. Founded in 1897, the Senkounari brand was named after the Sennari gourd of Toyotomi Hideyoshi , the predecessor of the Niwa clan that ruled the Nihonmatsu Domain subsequently. Senkounari (千功成) means "Thousand Merits".

The brewery offers tours to groups of up to ten people that must be reserved at least one day in advance, Sundays and holidays only by appointment. The tour takes about 30 minutes and includes a sake-tasting (500 JPY).

Intense nose of dried fruits, caramel, honey, and koji. A dry, undiluted sake with a silky and viscous body, very rich and deep. Strong and intense approach, sweet mid-palate, crisp, slightly bitter, and a short, mild finish with a sour tingle. It is pretty strong at 18-19% and carries the sweetness of pure rice, as it is barely fruity.
