What does this word mean?

While, reading, I came across this one word that I can't seem to understand, that being the first word in this sentence. I know it says "----- kau yotei no inu," which means something along the lines of "----- the dog he plans on raising as a pet." The first word written in hiragana looks like "iore" to me, but I can't seem to figure out what it means. Is it a name, possibly one that is normally used for dogs? I haven't been able to find out what it means, so any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!
