Translation of a tattoo

Hi!

Me and my girlfriend are getting married in a couple of months and she has a Japanese(?) tattoo that we don't know the meaning of.

If it translates to something not too weird she'll sharpen the edges (its a couple of years old) and if not, she'll probably cover it with something.

I'm grasping at straws here, but I was hoping that one of you fine people might be able to tell us what it means.

What did they tell her it said when she got it?

It's so poorly done that it is hard to guess what it is supposed to be. Cover it up with something else.

They said that it read "Marianne", but as with all tattoos in a foreign language, I'm a bit sceptic

They lied. There is no kanji that reads "Marianne". Why would there be one?

My wife just had a look at it and pointed out that it looks like 尿 (p!ss), but with an extra stroke.

...or hybrid between 尿 and 康 (healthy, peaceful, etc.)

Mm that was what I feared. She was young and reckless, I guess, and there might have been some kind of alcohol involved...
