...Or spell, I'm not so sure, since it is quite complicated. I can understand some individual words, but to judge this as a whole is a tad difficult for me. Could somebody please help me with the translation, or just the meaning of this poem/ spell? This is an extract from a manga series I am reading, and before this frame there is no other dialogue that has this person.
The image is in the attachment ( I know the text is small, please excuse me for that, I cannot make it any bigger.)

Please help and thank you :)

そいぶしにはらみし花のかきつばた
みな紫のゆかり美し

Probably the poem is related to the Tale of Genji or Ariwarano Narihira.
Kakitsubata, Japanese iris, is a beautiful flower which is often associated with beautiful women. And the word, Murasaki, or purple in the poem must be in relation to Lady Murasaki.

But what I don't understand is that the scene seems a sort of battle.

I think it is actually a 狂歌 from 秘傳千羽鶴折形。 I think the character may be using it as a spell to create those magical origami birds I think we can see next to him.

I tried to post the link to the wikipedia page, but I don't have enough posts yet to do it.
