pasta mutant

When a jar of sweet sweed paste is available in your town, try my favorite pasta recipe. It is really (テ溪?柎テ?yummy! The paste itself is common in Japan, but it might be difficult to get one outside Japan. So it is not necessarily a budget recipe.

sweet seaweed paste -> 1 or 2 tbsp
pasta
soy sauce -> 1 tbsp
parmesan cheeze
butter
Directions
Follow the instruction for the dried pasta
Saute pasta with butter
Add soy sause and seaweed paste
Put as much cheese as you like

When you like richer taste, it might be a n idea to add fresh cream as well.

Hi pipokun,

Thanks for the recipe.
Is Sweet seaweed "ごはんですよ!(Gohan-Desuyo!)"?
>see attachment.

Yeah! Whatever uses Gohan-desuyo!, it is a B級グルメ!
I can get Japanese foods easily here in California, and even cheaper in Chinatown!

Easy onsen tamago
Onsen tamago is close to poached eggs in other countries, that is, kind of half-boiled eggs. The dipping sauce is usually dashi, or seafood stock and soy sauce.
And when you stay at an onsen ryokan, it is highly likely that onsen tamago will be served in your breakfast.

Egg
Water
Your mug, not a plastic one

Dashi powder or your favourite soup stock
Soy sauce

Place the egg into your mug.
To avoid the egg will blow up, poke yolks a bit with fork tines or chopsticks.
Pour water till it covers the york.
Microwave it for 1 min 5 sec. Depends upon your microwave.
Drain about half of the boiled water and add a pinch of dashi powder and soy sauce.

(゚д゚)YUM!

DISCLAIMER
Cooking eggs in your microwave is really dangerous, so be careful and take your own risk.
Japanese often eat raw eggs, but I don't know the hygiene situation in your country. So you should use as fresh eggs as possible.

What wonderful ideas you guys have!
すごいアイデア!試してみようかなっと。

When the gas service was not available at my cheap appartment in shinjuku, tokyo, I tried Yakiniku or grilled meat, stew, and curry only with the electric rice cooker. They were all good, though rice got a bit cold.
I suppose you can use the rice cooker like a slow cooker, which is not so popular in Japan.
Necessity, or lack of money I should say, is the mother of invention.

I've never heard anyone cooked yakiniku, curry, stew with suihanki.
I guess, why not? ✌️

Yeah! I agree, Rice cooker is a great tool!
I do cook with rice cooker. It was introduced by Chinese friend first. They put Okazu on top of rice when they cook rice. That way you can save some time and effort to wash pots! :(

Here is a link for Rice Cooker cooking I often visit.

Potato Korroke, or Japanese potato croquette

PREPARATION:
Peel and cut potatoes into medium chunks. Boil potatoes until soften. Mash potatoes. Mince onion and saute in a fryin pan. Add ground beef in the pan and saute. Mix mashed potato and onion and beef in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper and mix well. Make flat and oval-shaped pieces. Coat each piece with flour. Dip in beaten egg. Coat with panko. Fry in 350 F oil until brown.
I don't know what beans you're talking about, but mix the beans and crushed hard-boiled eggs instead of beef.

Ninniku Shoyu, garlic soy sauce

Garlic
Soy sauce
Used jars or bottles

Peel cloves of garlic
Boil water
Just wash the garlic in boiled water, not boil it
Wash the jar/bottle
Dry the garlic and the jar/bottle
Place the garlic, then pour soy sauce as it covers the garlic
Keep it in your fridge

Wait, wait and wait.

2 weeks later, you can use the say sauce in anything you cook, say, fried rice/vegitable, tofu, meat.
1 month later, you can eat the garlic

Put the same amount of garlic and/or soy sauce again.
You can keep this soy sauce for more than 1 year. I am using my 1 year old sauce.
