Don't suppose anyone knows how to cook a sweet potato a thousand ways?

if i remember right, china and japan aren't good friends and china wants Taiwan anyway. so if (when) china made a move on Taiwan and blocked the strait, was it 1/10th of Japan's population would die of famine? unless they anticipate china's move and start growing sweet potatoes.

Cut into largish chunks, coat with oil and roast on a tray with other veggies. Peeled and quartered onions wrapped in foil work well.

Kazakhstan can sell anything for evading list of restricted food from Russia or Ukraine, i think. but reselling feels bad anyway.

the worst thing, i think is a restrictions for importing seeds. i've heard a lot of stupid stories from my friend in Albania about injailing those, who tried to import seeds of potato, onion, carrot....oi even gooseberries are outlaw!
GOOSEBERRIES!
that's what realy rediculos.

yeah of course tis gonna sound as "we got no idea what seeds do you have!"
but in fact it's just a syntetic creation of trading process with high-prices.
with using a lot of fuel and "sweety children" of local trading CEO for cutting budgets.
that's how it works and that's a shame. root of all evil is simple and typical greed :cautious:

Recipe: Sweet Potato Soufflé

Sweet potato mix:
4 cups cooked sweet potatoes (mashed)
1 cups sugar ( I usually cut this to 3/4 cup but since Asian sweet potatoes are sweeter than domestic US yams I would probably go with 1/3 cup - 1/2 cup)
1 tsp salt
3 eggs
1/2 cups melted butter

Mix together and spread in 8" x 8" pan ( I use an oval casserole dish that is a bit bigger and will prevent boil over in the oven)

Topping:
1/2 cups melted butter
1 cups brown sugar (I usually use 3/4c)
1 cups copped pecans
1/2 cups flour (I use normal unbleached flour, don't use bread flour)

Mix together and spread, or crumble, over the top of the sweet potatoes

Bake for 1 hour at 325F

Sweet potato mix in pan:

Recipe: Simple baked sweet potato
NOTE: This recipe actually works with ANY variety of potato

1) Wash potato, but leave the skin on
2) Stab with fork somewhat evenly around the entire potato, about 1" or 3 cm spacing - Releases steam and allows for more even cooking
3) Coat with a thin layer of oil or butter - Butter makes it better!
4) OPTIONAL: Add spices as desired - NOTE: This is more for other types of potatoes than for sweet potatoes
5) Wrap in heavy duty foil, aluminum or tin, it makes no difference
6) Bake in the oven at 350F or 180C for 1 hr to 1 hr 15m - Alternately, throw it in the bottom of a fire pit, camp fire, or grill and let it roast for about 1 hr, turning it several times to ensure even heating.

The skin should peel off easily, if you don't want to eat it, and you can enjoy your snack / side dish.

Bon Appétit
