On the right, the seated figure in priestly robes is most likely Gyōki (行基, 668–749), the Nara-period monk traditionally credited with founding Daizen-ji. He is often shown in formal robes, seated on a raised platform, reflecting his status as a revered cleric and temple founder.
On the left, the more simply dressed, kneeling figure appears to represent a lay patron or local benefactor—possibly linked to the Saigusa clan (三枝氏), the temple’s early patrons, or another historical supporter of the temple. Such figures are sometimes included in temple spaces to acknowledge those who contributed to its foundation or preservation.
